Excellent news all around. A testament to the huge amount of work done by all involved. Major kudos, no thanks to Blaco, Nagin, and Landrieu.

I guess when they finish draining the city, the other 9,000+ bodies will surface, making Nagin, and others (including, incredibly the GOP Senator, Vitter), right in their assertions that 10,000 died.
I can't wait for the MSM to shed light on the greatly reduced numbers.

New Orleans, dry? I hope not! ;)

I watched a dumb reporter on Fox today lecturing someone from Texas about the problems on the highways during evacuation.
I wonder why all these reporters don't just take over and run the world. One would think they could create a utopia within hours!
What a bunch of idiots. All they seem to know is how to criticize. I am fed up with all of them except Brit Hume.

Brit's one of the very few with any integrity.
By the way, what ever happened to talks about NO being uninhabitable for at least several months, the debate on whether it will ever be rebuilt at all, etc. What a crock!
To: NYC Republican
Pretty much burnt out on all the hysterical over reporting.
Turned off the storm and watched TCM and the movie Sea Of Grass with Tracy and Hepburn.

Oh, but don't you know? According the race-baiters, those thousands of bodies aren't under water, but buried in a mass grave. (Whoever said that obviously knows nothing about where New Orleans is--there's a reason why, for many years, the dead were "buried" above ground.)

Glad I'm not alone on that. Yes, Brit seems to be the best among them.

"By the way, what ever happened to talks about NO being uninhabitable for at least several months, the debate on whether it will ever be rebuilt at all, etc. What a crock!"What a crock indeed! However, those theories had fans here on Free Republic too--I recall many "discussions" about that, and there were those who insisted the place should be bulldozed and entirely deserted. I'm still waiting for all the plagues some of those same people insisted would happen if people continued to live there--which, of course, they have.

Don't forget the predictions of 10,000 dead. So glad that one was wrong. For the souls and for the country.

Brit's one of the very few with any integrity. I agree. Tony is a good guy also. I listen to him on the internet before Rush comes on the radio. One of the best radio show hosts is Jason Lewis on WKBT in Charlotte, NC. He has a strong economics and legal background. He should replace Hannity on the 3-6 hour slot on a national basis.

I don't know about "uninhabitable" but large parts of NO shouldn't be inhabited again.Much of it would be much better used as a landfill. At the current rate of subsidence that landfill might not "run out" of space for a long time.
