I have a "lock box". Enough said.

No really, I have a box, actually a plastic "rubbermade" tub with a lid, not water proof, but secure enough to keep rain water out. In it I have the following items, (this is off the top of my head), Propane cook stove, 3 2lb propane bottles, flash light, hatchet, saw, rope, bungee cords, duct tape, radio, batteries "d" "c" and "AA" cell, water filtration system, 500 rounds of .22 cal, dish soap, handi wipes, cargo straps, machette, "handy talkies- with NOAA", plastic cups, bowls,plates. Tongs, spatuala, knives, forks and spoons. Band aids, cotton balls, red tip matches, rubbing alcohol, salt, pepper and garlic powder. 4 qt pot, 2 qt pot, fry pan.

That's my "get away", and live box. On top of that but not in the box, 8x 12 tarp, and a 5 gal water bag.

Food box: 12 cans of "delvils food meat stuff" ,12 cans of tuna, 4 boxes of granola bars, 1 bag of snickers "fun size", ritz, peanut butter, 2 cheeze wiz, speghetii noodles, canned vegies 4 each corn, green beans,4 cans evaporated milk, one small can of crisco, small "PAM" cooking spray, slim jims, jerky, 12 ramen noodles, 2 kool aids instant, lb sugar, 5lb of flower, box of bisquick, beef bullion cubes, 4 boxes of rice a ronie, instant coffee. Water is stored in the fridge, 24 12oz bottles.

Tents (2) and sleeping bags are ready to grab and go.

I sleep with my boots on, never take my hat off, and I'm always clean shaven.

You're right. The cans in my BOB are all pull ring type for simplicity, but I do keep a p-38 can opener or five in my kits.

I did sneak a shotgun in there. I've always considered my mossberg500 in .12 the theoretical "one gun". From squirrel to deer to bad guys it'll get the job done. a bandoleer and belt filled w/ammo comes too. If I have tome I'll bring the mini-14 (handguns are always in the trucks) and the .22 and .308, but the mossberg is the one I know I can count on to do the most jobs adequately.

There is some very useful information in this and is something I can use to plan with.  Thanks for the tips.  You are right, it makes no sense not to be prepared, especially in light of events that have occurred since 2001.
