Keep your hands off our Kilkenny, Waterford City warned

in Ireland recently as cities have grown they've moved to annex areas, sometimes areas that belong to other counties. In Ireland counties are tied very closely to identity - people feel very strongly with their home county - sports is organized by county. Here's a story about Waterford City (home of the famous Crystal) trying to annex part of Kilkenny (home of the famous ???) due to recent expansion of the city into the county.

The famous "Kilkenney cats", of course. Famous for what I have forgotteen.

Let me guess - - this "annexation" trend in Ireland is taking place for the same reason that the socialist liberal Democrats in America want "regionalization" - - so that corrupt city pols can reach their filthy fingers into suburban wallets and grab more taxes for buying the votes of the cities' parasite class. Am I right?
