Any looting yet?

Yes, the town of Metler is on fire, and thousands are in the streets murdering each other.

I was born and raised in Iowa and always hated the summer storms. Much scarier to me than earthquakes.

We get scary weather in Indiana. Memorial Day of 2004 was intense: we had two tornado warnings an hour apart late that afternoon. Possible funnels spotted west of me -- the supercell was coming in from the east. That storm looked weird, it was circular. (Mesocyclones, I think that kind of cell is called.) An F1 in downtown Clarksville, Indiana (right across the Ohio River from downtown Louisville, in plain view from downtown Louisville). That tornado was just a couple of blocks from where I once lived. The local network was showing it on the "tower cam". That tornado did little damage, but the damage was heavy at Marengo, Indiana (40 miles northwest of us), with loss of life.

Still, I prefer tornados to earthquakes. You normally get plenty of warning with tornados, and can go into the basement or otherwise protect yourself. Earthquake, no warning -- that's creepy.

I don't know, I think I'd prefer a quake than seeing my neighbors home fly over mine followed by their pets, into the next county.

There've been a bunch more around Mettler. Kinda remimnds me of what was happening around Joshua Tree in 92.
