And let's not forget this: back then, players played in real ballparks.

All those posing centerfield 410 ft. HRs Bonds has hit would be embarrassingly short fly outs in the stadium's of the 1920's. Ruth's home field center was 488 ft. for 14 years, and he hit plenty beyond that. I'd gather in his career he hit 500+ flyouts further than Bonds' HRs to center. Ruth was HR champ at 25, and though he never saw a good pitch his entire career, he held 57 all-time records when he retired. An amazing all around player, with dominance over his peers that we'll never see again. My top 5 for dominance over peers are Ruth, Cobb, Williams, Gehrig and Mays.

The king of HRs for the steriod era was Sosa, who avg. 56 HRS for 5 years. If Arod and Pujols don't get hurt, they will be the players people talk about in 15 years, when the circus drug years become a footnote.

My top 5 for dominance over peers are Ruth, Cobb, Williams, Gehrig and Mays.

I can't argue with any of those choices. I might include players like Sandy Koufax or Walter Johnson in their prime to include a couple of full-time pitchers.
