Well, at least you'll be with family and friends and you can all help each other out.

Yeah... well......
The good news is: the sister-in-law who had to work Saturday now has Friday and Saturday off... so she can come with us.
The bad news is: the sister-in-law who was supposed to pick-up Mom an hour ago hasn't shown up yet.
(Probably took my niece to the beauty shop to get her nails done first or some such nonsense.)
Now I have to listen to my Mom gripe about how she'd rather leave in the morning instead.
Cripes, I'm tempted to just hop in the car and head WEST by myself.

On the other hand, this could be your big chance to jump a train!

She's in an apartment. That's what has me concerned. She is in a sorority, and maybe the sorority house will be a little more prepared.

Let's just hope she gets out of town soon.

My family is in Dallas, and they are looking forward to the rain. It's been a dry year. Dallas is just way too far north for there to be much danger.

Ah, families, eh?

((((sigh)))) yeah... I'm afraid so...
As you might guess, I'm not the hectic-paced, multitasking flexplan type...
IMHO, that's just fancy-talk for acting like a bunch of chickens with their heads cut off.
I much prefer a firm, decisive plan of action that everybody sticks to.

Planning to move the family to Spring in the wee morning hours. The freeway now is a parking lot. My sister in Dallas wants us to go there. Haven't decided yet.

Sounds good to me.
I wonder if they charge extra if I bring the cat.

It all depends on the amount of rain. Last time, 6 flooded up around Hearne, so if she's going to Waco she might want to head out before the rain stops. I think I'm gonna ride it out here.

Also, there are buildings on campus that will have no problem with high winds. I figure if it gets bad, I have an office that I can go to.

If she is going to leave, she should go tomorrow or not at all. As pointed out, Highway 6 floods around Hearne which is just north of B/CS. Thankfully, B/CS is not prone to serious flooding, other than street flooding which isn't a real problem unless you have a low to the ground car. Living right next to one of the main drainage creeks can put your house at risk but I've only seen them seriously go over the banks twice and only once into people's houses.

Flooding like we saw in New Orleans from Katrina or Houston from Allison is unlike in B/CS.

I just hope the electricity holds here in CS. We'll see, I just have to fill up some water jugs and I'm ready.

Checking in.

In the path and very much afraid. Never been through one before and I'm hoping that Rita will weaken as it lands. Thank God most of Galveston has been evacuated.

I just hope the electricity holds here in CS.

Along with wind and tornado damage, that is my biggest concern. Being without power, which would also mean no water fairly quickly, would suck in this heat. If you have a bathtub, fill it up Friday and the water can be used to flush the toilet.

At least it looks like the high 80s, low 90s for a day or two if that were to happen. If it lasts longer, I might have to visit the parents around Waco.
