Was the Program shutdown in 2001 or in May of 2000? I read several times that it was in May 2000, but the MSM seems to be reporting the plug being pulled on Bush's watch?

They will not let this go and I'm certain we'll hear more about this and I just hope Rumsfeld isn't able to keep it all quiet in the back rooms, unless there's a very good national security reason.
And so far, not one pundit or Senator or anyone has come up with a good explanation of why there might be national security concerns over this open source information. And I think if there is one, it's incumbent on Rumsfeld to explain as best he can what the reason is, if only from a PR standpoint.

According to the testimony today the files were deletd May/June 2000. The program was finally closed down around June 2001.

How can there be a program without data?
The data was destroyed in 2000. But the program continued and there was a briefing to the Joint Chief of Staffs in 1/01 and again in the spring of '01.
Whether new information was gathered from the time it was destroyed in '00 or not needs to be fleshed out.
Actually, there are lots of little questions. But the big ones remain the same.
#1. Was Atta and the Brooklyn cell id'd before 9/11?
#2. Who was told about the information and what did they do with it?
#3. Why did lawyers decide to over-regulate the Regulation which says information can only be kept for 90 days unless one of 13 criteria are met and it sounded like a couple of those criteria were met. (Don't ask me to repeat them, however, because I couldn't possibly!)

First you take away the data, then eventually you shut down the program.
Anyway, that's the fig-leaf for the Clinton administration - the program was not finally terminated until President Bush had started his peroíod. although it already had been fatally wounded a year earlier.
