why dont you go and serve if youre for the war
I was talking with a William and Mary student when this comment was made. He had completed a tour in Iraq and Afghanistan with the US Marines. He had a good chuckle over the comment.
We talked for close to half an hour and both being vets we had a lot in common. It was soon apparent that he really had been there, and was not just blowing smoke.

It was the very first time I ever attended a politically motivated rally. I might even learn how to be more active in my participation.

You guys were great!!!! I almost fell like I was there ;-)!
Love the "Send Cindy to Gitmo" sign!
I was thinking about a sign that says "Donate Here to Send the Cindynistas to Iraq" That way we could get rid of them, they could show our troops in person how much they *cough* "support them, and our troops could show their *ahem* "appreciation" by tossing their sorry butts to the "Freedom Fighters". Everybody wins!

We stayed a lot later than we intended - had some great conversations. Toward the end, we had two young men wander over "from the other side" to have a discussion with us. It was quite remarkable. They were soft spoken, asking intelligent questions - albeit from the lsm, listened attentively as several answered their questions and objections to what was said. They seemed generally interested in seeking the truth. One recited the spelling, twice, of a search term we told him to google. This indicated to me that he was serious about researching the things he had heard.
The greatest moment was when they thanked us for taking the time to answer questions, give explanations and verifiable information for what we we told them. They informed us that when they probed the "other side" for answers, all they could spout was, "but...oh...but...but...HALLIBURTON!" His facial expression and gesturing through that statement was priceless! It was then that they decided to search for answers elsewhere and came to us.
Meeting these two, and the most awesome, energetic Young Republicans and other students, give me great hope for the future of our Republic!

I don't know about other FReepers, but I counted 15-17 others from the photos.
Does that sound right? Bob, what does your book tell us?

It's really nice to see the nice, well-mannered, clean young people get involved and support the troops...unlike the unclean, unkempt, unwashed hippies of yester year.
It gives me hope for America.

why dont you go and serve if youre for the war That along with ...
"do you have a family member over there?"
"what noble cause?"
...are their signature absurdities!

(If you aren't part of the solution, there is good money to be made prolonging the problem.)
