Some buddy of Wally Cleaver asked him one time why he let Eddie Haskell be his friend. Wally replied that even jerks need friends. I don't know, maybe Slick has a lot of dirty jokes that Bush 41 finds amusing. Who knows.

>>> This simply proves that GHWB has class and respect for the presidency, something the left will never be capable of. <<<

I don't consider it classy to let the enemies of freedom get away with lies to the American people. To the contrary, it makes one complicit if one does not at least express concern. By their silence the Bush's are legitimizing the evil of the Clinton's.

Just like in sports, a true athlete plays to win with his own skills-even when the other team has stolen the play book, paid off the refs and cheats whenever possible.

EXCELLENT point, princess leah!

GHWB is a true athlete, a classy athlete. He knows he doesn't have to spit in his opponent's face to win the game. He knows he wins the game by showing the world his own quality and skill..........which he has done.

(I'll betcha some of these gripers are the guys who in high school refused to shake hands with the opposing team at the end of the game.........no class, no sportsmanship, and clearly no ability to understand either quality).

No, no, MJY.........he's the one who has symptoms of PMS. He's the one who needs the Midol.

Gray was having a hissy fit, and I was calm and rational, and then he came up with the really 'clever' zinger that I needed medication (at least HE thought it was clever).

After a good night's rest, it's even funnier than in was last night. (Although, the enema wasn't a bad suggestion).

I'm sure he thought the fly swatter was cute too............sheesh!

Actually, it proves that he has class, Wolfstar............but it also proves that he lacks a political killer instinct.

He's a very nice man, and from all accounts from every source, xlinton is charming. There was no lie here.

I haven't lost a single bit of respect for him. A lot of people mellow as they age, and he's just mellowing from sweetness to an 80 year old version of it. He doesn't like controversy, that's all, and he respects the presidency, so he is NEVER going to break the rule of respect that Carter and Clinton have trashed.

This comment is of absolutely no consequence, and those who are saying he isn't a man, or saying that there is some sinister conspiracy here are just wrong.

When are the Bushes going to wake up? The Clintons would destroy them in a heartbeat if it could get them political advantage.

Good morning, OWF. True, those who say mindless things such as GWHB isn't a man, or there's some conspiracy are wrong.

Like you (I assume), I had the priviledge of voting for GHWB four times: twice for VP and twice for POTUS. I don't for one minute regret those votes, and I respect former President Bush on many levels.

However, I was deeply disappointed in his and his wife's most recent appearance on Larry King. King threw them the easiest of questions to give them a chance to defend their son from the worst garbage being thrown at George W. (He's a racist. He doesn't care about black people. He delayed relief because the people were black and poor. And so on.)

Not only didn't his parents take the opportunity to defend him, but George HW shrugged it all off and merely said his son is strong and it goes with the territory. Worse, GHWB came close to seeming to agree with the criticism!

Like Laz said, "There's a point where you cross from being a nice guy to a freakin' sap." Laura is also nice, but she put up a spirited defense of her husband on the racism charge. That was the least George W.'s own mother and father could have done, but they didn't.

Perhaps you're right. Perhaps its due to their advanced age, plus the fact that GHWB has always been somewhat politically tone deaf. Perhaps it's also just habit acquired back in 1999 and 2000 when they worked very hard to show that their son is his own man. But my understanding these things doesn't make me any less disappointed in their failure to defend their son during that appearance on LKL at the height of the media-driven Katrina political firestorm.

And if they spent their energy arguing with Larry, would it have made a difference? Only idiots think GWB is a racist, and his parents know that. I guarantee that they didn't consider it worth the trouble.......

Or PERHAPS.......Barbara remained silent because if she got started on what she thinks of the people who bash her son, she would say something REALLY nasty, and it would hurt him more than her silence....

At any rate.....I think they're tired. They're tired of the lies. They're tired of the media. They're tired of hurting for their son.

Sloughing off idiotic criticism probably helps keep them sane.

Yet another "error" in reporting by NewsMax.

41 did NOT say "I still like him," making it sound like he even acknowledged what Clinton said.

"I like him," Bush 41 said, despite the verbal thrashing Clinton administered to his son on ABC's "This Week" the day before.

He liked David Souter and higher taxes too. You can say he has more class than Clinton but that is hardly high praise.

Is "I STILL like him" the actual title in the NewsMax article? Or was it incorrectly posted? (Never mind, I'll check for myself).

Because if they added the 'still' it is irresponsible journalism.

You are sharp there, Howlin. :) That makes a HUGE difference.

You're right. It's shoddy journalism and misleading, based on the conclusions drawn by the writer.

It also proved that Tom Dooley liked rope, but ignored what it was doing to him.

"And whether it's race-based or not, if you give your tax cuts to the rich and hope everything works out all right, poverty goes up and it disproportionately affects black and brown people."

Clinton is such a racist. He really thinks black and brown people will believe this. There is no logic here. But he just knows they'll buy it hook, line, and sinker.
