Actually Clinton has got it bass ackwards. People are looking at how long it took for the Feds to get from point A. to point B. & then they look at the total idiocy & incompetence of the local officials & state bureucrats and realize thatyou are on your own that waiting for "the government"to take care of you can get you & your loved ones DEAD.

"Former President Bill Clinton described the devastation from Hurricane Katrina as "a positive thing for our country--" ---- "I think [Katrina] is likely to make us far more sensitive to ...to the importance of effective, good government-----" Clinton said.

Never would I look at devastation, destruction, and death, as "a positive thing for our country" no matter what lesson learned.

What clinton's insinuated as the failing Government Body was the Federal Government - neglecting and ignoring acknowledgment that the failing Government body was State and Local Government of NO and LA! AS a former Governor clinton knows this very well. A true American would never advocate the Federal Government usurping State Government. Only a person with another motive would ever suggest that roll for Federal Government. clinton's Hate Bush was loud and clear!!! as was the person interviewing little man clinton.

La State and Local Tax Payers should demand answers with their elected officials for not having a well prepared plan of evacuation, for not having the security of LA their top priority, for not exercising the authority bestowed upon them.

So in the last few days we have heard from the clintons.
1. mrs. clinton demanding a Federal Investigation on how Bush failed.
2. mr. clinton wanting Terrorism Insurance Plans.
3. mr. clinton critized President Bush for "attacking" Iraq and jailing Oil buddy Saddam.
4. mr. clinton supports Federal Government power over State Government.

I was thinking it proved you shouldn't depend on a big centralized government to take care of you. People who relied on family and friends did much better than those who relied on the federal government. Smaller local government should have the most power because it CAN be the most flexible and effective. Of course, you're screwed if you elected incompetents at the state and local level.

Yeah but wait till the second week of November, 2008 so Hillary doesn't win with the "sympathy-for-the-poor-widow" vote.

I do not want to sound like a loser, but... the bbc site has a review of the interview without the inflammatories, and bbc radio doesn't have those comments either. I would hate to send these comments out to the world just to hear that it is not true.

Can someone please post a link to the BBC interview?

Speaking to the BBC Radio 4's Today program, Clinton said that the disaster could encourage Americans to view government involvement in their lives more positively, something the Democrats wanted

Sure Billy. Keep telling yourself that. That is why even your own Lefty polls are showing a significant majority of Americans blame Govt at all levels for the "Slow response" and are much more impressed with the private charities then the Govt response. But if it will get you to come out of the "New Democrat" Closet and have you wife run as the big time Socialist she is in 2008, I will play along.

Gee Bill, you are right. Americans LOVE their Govt and just waiting to vote for those who promise and ever increasing amount of it!

I try to avoid saying things about people who are so glaringly mortal, and likely to die unshriven so to speak, but he is such a jerk.

This coming from the jagov who went after Bill Gates, but wouldn't take custody of bin Laden.

Stick a sock in it, Billy-Jeff. You're a frickin' idiot.

"the disaster could encourage Americans to view government involvement in their lives more positively"

This sounds like the rantings of some deranged looney. I thought everyone, regardless of political leaning, agreed that the governments involved screwed up. The people who did best in this disaster are the ones who took it upon their own selves to leave. Those who depended on "government involvement" were stuck in misery.
