As I feared, Republicans were woefully unprepared for the entirely predictable Democratic demagoguery on SS. The left is defending regressive taxes on burger flippers so Warren Buffet can get welfare checks. The case for reform should be a slam dunk, but they aren't called the Stupid Party for nothing.

any single-source tax would only encourage "non-compliance"

But your argument assumes two things:

1) that a NRST tax is single source
2) that there is no cheating now
3) that cheating would be easier and more prevalant under FairTax than it is under the Income tax.

Ok, so I can't count ;-)

#2 and #3 I categorically deny. Not a shred of evidence that your friendly big-box store is going to help you cheat on taxes, and even if you want to buy out of the back of a white van, THAT guy has to spend his money somewhere, and get his goods somewhere. Its easier to police than the income tax.

As for Single source... You mean like the Income tax?
