Thats why you need to send them the facts and sources. If they are verifiable sources they will post them. They usually post corrections.
I read somewhere that federal aid wasn't requested until 72 hours after the hurricane hit.
Who runs Fact Check, CNN?
Annenberg I think. Even Dick Cheney mentioned them as a good website to quote.
CNN had an interview with Blanco where they kept hammering her until she confirmed that it was Wed before she asked for additional FEMA help. FEMA says it was Thursday. They also do not "fact check" the initial NG troops dispatched by Blanco on Thursday. She held a bleedin' PRESS Conference where she made a big deal about how these 300 had "just come back from Iraq" and "had guns and knew how to use them
Check this link out; much better than Fact Check's timeline:
This is a superb timeline!
Also, the Chair of the ATRW thread published a timeline that explains in concise detail what happened and when and why the federal government was precluded from going into New Orleans until specifically requested by the Governor.
This was published on ATRW today and is just fabulous.

PING/BUMP
FEMA's coordinator William Lokey says of the still-rising water:
FEMA's Bill Lokey: In the metropolitan area in general, in the huge majority of areas, it's not rising at all. It's the same or it may be lowering slightly. In some parts of New Orleans, because of the 17th Street breach, it may be rising and that seemed to be the case in parts of downtown.
I don't want to alarm everybody that, you know, New Orleans is filling up like a bowl. That's just not happening.
None of the state officials present at the press conference correct Lokey's mistaken remark.
I question the validity of this ENTIRE timeline by "Fact"-check, mainly due to the INCORRECT attribution of the quote above. Even ABC got it right, if a bit late in the show that aired last night.
I watched that show on ABC last night that was dedicated to the "system failure" regarding Katrina. It was hosted by Ted Koppel. In it, they showed this news conference, where supposedly, FEMA coordinator, Bill Lokey made the statement attributed to him above.
Near the end of the show, while showing a short clip of the news conference again, Ted Koppel said they had made a mistake, and that, in fact, it was NOT FEMA coordinator Bill Lokey, but actually, Congressman Vitter from LA.
I know that pained Ted Koppel, since the left-wing media want to blame the President for EVERYTHING BAD, and, failing that, at least blame those closest to him (like FEMA personnel), for all the failures of his administration.
"It's a very slow rise, and it will remain so until we plug that breach. I think we can get it stabilized in a few hours," Terry Ebbert, New Orleans' homeland security chief told The Associated Press.

Yep. I guess it is Most of the Fact Check. Almost all of the Fact Check. Leave out the Real Incriminating Fact Check.
Well, whoever wrote this timeline for them, forgot some of the most relevant facts BEFORE the hurricaine hit. It may be an oversight, but it seems intentional.
Among other things, they also left off the fact that the Friday 5pm advisory forecast track had Katrina heading right for New Orleans. And that track ended up being only 15 miles off.
And Louisiana and NOLA waited. And waited. And waited.
Thanks Peach, always can count on your for the goods.

Bump for future read - I printed it out. This is the kind of information I've been looking for.
Thanks. Just checked it out. More accurate than "Fact Check".
I stand corrected with all the facts Freepers have - this is NOT a good timeline!
Why do they continually refer to Bush (still at the Crawford Ranch)? This seems to me to be inflamatory. The President is not supposed to get in the way of the people working in his federal agencies. We are at war and there are many things on a President's agenda besides making public relations appearances. The Annenberg Center Public Policy Center is a left leaning organization . . .Bush hating liberals.
