From one Law Enforcement Family to another - I'm glad your son is serving his country and his community.

I'll believe the Deaconess over them proven idiots in the NOPD!
After my experiences over the years with Louisiana LEO's, I think I would believe the Deaconess and the eyewitnesses and the Deli owner as well.
That and that little bit about having a cooler of food in her car - considering her condition, somehow I think it would be easier for her to get in her car, and get food out of the cooler, than smashing Deli windows and climbing through them.

He's not a crooked cop and I know lots of cops and none of them are bad people.
There is a reason why you don't know any bad cops, and it's because you probably don't hang around or associate with bad people in general - it's a reflection of your character.
That doesn't mean that bad cops don't exist, or that certain parts of this country are more prone to having bad cops.
I've been pulled over several times for DWT while either driving in to Louisiana to stay with my parents during breaks in college (my father was stationed there at the time), or driving through Louisiana while going between my family's home in Texas and Air Force bases in Florida and Alabama.
It's not really even a reflection on LEOs, it's more of a reflection on Louisiana, and the LEOs simply reflect that. It's a very corrupt state - it's in the top three in the US. You can make all kinds of jokes about the fact that much of it's run by democrats, the fact is, there is probably some truth there, similar to how corrupt Chicago has been in the past (and even the present).
Of course, it's not well-received to say anything negative about New Orleans or Louisiana, but the fact is, anybody who's been around New Orleans knows there are some very bad areas all over the city, and people familiar with Louisiana politics know just how corrupt the state can be.
