A far cry from the party of Harry Truman!

Don't read too much into Nagin's part affiliation. Remember that he is a donor to George W. Bush, endorsed GOP gubernatorial nominee Bobby Jindal over Kathleen Blanco, and was himself a Republican for most of his political career - switching parties just days before filing for the mayoral race (presumably because he realized that there wasn't a chance of New Orleans electing a Republican mayor.)

I'm not saying that Nagin was anything but incompetent, but trying to pin his incompetence on the Democratic party is shaky ground and may backfire on the Republicans.

Anyone have a non NewsMax source for this story? I want to use it in a debate and eyes always roll when I used hardcore conservative news sources.

It would not have been efficient to use the buses...
No one would have wanted to sit in the back.

"the contraflow lanes only went for a few miles (I heard about 12 miles"

Yeah, they needed to plan to do contra-flow on I-10 all the way to Houston! Just getting people to Baton Rouge and backing up all the traffic into NOLA was not enough......... sure it takes staffing, but that's what emergency planning is for.....
