Somebody on another thread just told me that Jess Jacka**son is demanding that these Katrina victims get as much money as the 9-11 families did.
Why don't we just give them the moon while we're at it.
"Now you're talking. That measly $2000 hardly bought anything at all at the Louis Vuitton store, where several people had already spent some of it."
For the sake of fairness, those LV clothes may have been seized knock offs that were donated:
"Also, I saw that the custom's service had donated their seized designer knock-offs to the Katrina victims. I had seen on the footage from the Astrodome a lady with a little Louis Vuitton backpack and matching do-rag. Now I know where it came from."

Or maybe do what I did -- I sent a pretty good amount to an animal rescue group.
Got a link? TIA
no its not terrible how you feel , why would any of us want to perpetuate this ungrateful nonsense, turn the spigot down for a while
Heh, see my post 81, JJ is already demanding the same amount as the 911 families got, apparently!
Well, what's bad about it is that there are a lot of people who really do need help and are grateful for it. It's just that those aren't the people who get your attention, you know? It's guys like this that just ruin it for everyone. (Not that he's alone, either - I've seen several with this 'tude on the news.)
Blecch. What a jerk.
Now they are afraid to move into apartments, and don't trust anyone offering them help.
Most of the people here (according to my sister, who has been to the shelter) are elderly and/or poor. They are very polite but clueless about basic stuff.
No, there was a store I think in Georgia that had already had some purchases with the FEMA cards. The LV store!
They're not selling knock-offs at that store. I'll never find the thread I was on, but this was from the actual documentation of where the money was being spent.
Yes, I saw the info about the LV knock-offs the other day, but this is something different.
yup , however, we are here in NYC and 'tude is standard , but now its getting a ratcheting up
Yes, I sent a check to the MS Animal Rescue League, in Jackson.
They look like they could use it.

There are others that could use the help too.
You are right, Here is the link:

True, not "all"... But unfortunately I do believe that he does represent a larger portion of the refugees than many people want to admit. Check out the link posted on #64. I worked in the Housing Projects in San Francisco (Hunter's Point) for several years and witnessed this mindset firsthand. Very Sad...
BTW: Texas does Rock! :-)
I've been a victim of liberalism for 40 years. I deserve $20K too. LOL
Also saw the Red Cross dude announce they were looking for 40,000 more volunteers. All those who volunteer will receive training and be a pool of folks available for future disasters. Has there been ANY thought to offering the evacuees a chance to volunteer? Learn a trade or skill if they are unskilled? Put to use training or skills they already have? Put them in a position to use their free time to aid others? Give them the joy of helping others? Put them in contact with Red Cross and other organizations' leaders who might recognize their industriousness and all-around good attitude to hire them for a paying job? HMMMM?
I know I'd be bored to tears sitting on a cot and looking for something to do -- hand out food, come up with games for the kids, teach people to use the computer, sort donations, wash cars, read the paper to an elderly person whose eyesight is dwindling . . . etc.
Thanks for that link!
The thread I was on I think said that these cards are being sold by the refugees at the Astrodome, for less than the value on the card. So they're selling them for $500 or $1000, they get the cash, then the buyer can go use up the card.
Everybody wins! Except the US taxpayer...
the programs that have been started, just to put these "takers" in some form of work situation , usually get cut back or stopped altogether,BECAUSE,they know the drill by now ,... be as unproductive and unattentive as possible, you'll get $$$$ for doing barely nothing
At the risk of repeating another post from last night:
Everyone on thos forum coninuously complains about the MSM coverage and how biased it is. This still holds true but you are buying into it like Demos.
You are being sold a bill of goods.
My wife and I worked at Brown Convention Center last Thursday and the people there don't resemble the slackards that you all so colorfully describe.
My wife had a woman come up to her and ask for some Tampax. My wife handed her a box and the woman opened and removed four and said thank you. My wife stopped her and handed her the box. The woman said "I'll just take these, someone else may need the others." My wife replied "Don't worry, we'll get more"
A man came in looking for cloth bathtowels. He picked up four and my wife asked how many family members he had. He replied "nine". She gave him another 6 towels and he was speechless.
One man picked up a toothbrush and my wife asked how many were in his group. He said four. So she gave him four toothbrushes with toothpaste for each. He couldn't believe that we would do this.
The evacuees are being extremely thrifty with the relief supplies. The people you are seeing on TV are brigands, hand picked by the media in order to inflate ratings.
Y'all are buying into a lie.
Bigtime.
And why would they need cash except for drugs or alcohol, even guns off the street..
They should have made the debit cards so that the 2k had to be used for housing, food, or clothing.
