I do applaud him for having acknowledged the problems, and saying that it's unacceptable.
I don't concur that there was a problem other than the state folks refusing to allow help in. That is not a federal issue. The administration responded quickly and decisively. Just my opinion.
Minor difference in view respectively noted.
Have a great day,

More articulate than most and stays around to defend positions, but there are some real red flags. Maybe just young and not (yet) free from legacy media and education establishment bias.

It looks like you honestly believe the misinformation that you are spewing on this thread.
What flavor of Democrat Kool-Aide are you drinking?
Did you honestly expect Bush to go down the day before the hurricane and bus out the population.
That was and still is the responsibility of the state and local government.
Have you ever had dealings with the state of Louisiana and the city government of New Orleans, I have.
It is or was like dealing with a third world government.
Somewhere the idea of responsibility for ones own safety will have to be addressed.
As for blindly supporting our government.
I fought for and have put my life in danger so you would have the opportunity to blindly slam our government.
I am willing at this point to give our great government the benefit of the doubt.
It would really be nice if the blame America first crowd would just shut up their carping.
I don't think the radical Moon Bat Cindy Sheehan crowd fully understands the outcome of what it is they are truly wanting for America.

I can tell you that this poster James is a dyed in the wool misguided liberal.
He like many in the media takes facts and twists them just enough to make all the problems rest squarely on Bush.

the president certainly could have invoked the insurrection act. he could have applied many different rationales. a good example of invoking the insurrection act would be how president eisenhower sent federal troops into states to protect the rights of african americans during desegregation. It's not the same thing. Eisenhower sent in troops to enforce a federal court order that was being directly violated. That's a challenge to federal authority. Nobody in New Orleans was challenging federal authority, however anarchic their actions were. The most the federal government might have been able to get away with without state approval would have been to protect federal property, and other places that have traditionally come under direct federal protection.

Nice rant.
When do you think they will ever pay for their nasty stupidity?
I haven't seen much of that. They just keep getting away with stuff and there is never a penalty. Yes, I know some will say they lose elections, but that does not stop the vicious language or the damage they cause?

Very true. Also not quite as insulting as most either.

Fascinating at times what just a small spin can do. Not quite a lie but so far from the truth it spends just like one.
Cordially,

I respectfully disagree with you. If you had bothered to read the article from the Post-Gazette you would have seen the little blurb in the last 2 paragraphs:
"It travels in a convoy that includes two 53-foot trailers, which yesterday afternoon was parked on a gravel lot 70 miles north of New Orleans because Louisiana officials for several days would not let them deploy to the flooded city, Rich said.
Yet plans to use the facility and its 100 health professionals were hatched days before Hurricane Katrina devastated the Gulf Coast, doctors in the caravan said."
But thanks for playing.

That is so funny. I have just completed a 24 hour email battle with a bunch of Bush Hating Michael Moore loving liberals who are members of his mail list. Unfortunately my 20 years long friend (maybe now my ex friend) was one of them

the rationale in this case would have been that the federal government needed to restore order due to the incapacity of state and local government to do so.The state government was still functioning, so therefore it, not the federal government, was to be the judge of whether or not it was capable of handling the problem. For the federal government to take the initiative without state authorization would have exceeded its constitutional powers.
If you're saying that the administration should have done so anyway, because lives were at stake, that's one thing. But no one should be under any illusions that there would be any legal cover for such an action.

But how can that be when President Bush forgot the poor Americans in New Orleans? (sarcasm intended) No, you will never hear about what GOOD he did. You will only hear these same people saying it wasn't enough or as fast as they wanted it. I think it is going well. Things are going along as good as possible and if everyone would just set back and look at the WHOLE picture and the WHOLE timeline, I say Bush is doing great.
