At the risk of being branded a tree-hugger, I'm gonna take the contrarian view on this thread. A 1200 year old tree can't be replaced overnight.

People I know who are concerned about these trees include arborists and "State University Ag types", generally conservative people who are as devastated by the human loss as anyone else.
