Much to their surprise, some pet owners refused to evacuate if forced to leave their pets behind. Its just a fact.

I might have gone ahead and evacuated, but I'd have wondered the rest of my life how my pet fared. I'm here to tell you....they become a part of your family. Never thought it would happen to me.

Pets are an important part of life. Even more important in time of crisis, can turn to them and they give no judgement, just wag their tails and give you unconditional attention.

I would refuse to evacuate as well. I saw some old dude on tv crying because he didn't want to leave behind his 15 year old dog companion.

That's just heartbreaking
I really pity those who have never experienced that kind of love....they are missing out

This might sound mean, but it's not meant so....but, leaving ahead of the storm could have prevented this agony.....I could NOT leave my dog either, I'd make sure she and our family were out of harms way, at the first call for evacuation.....I'd walk if I had to.

All this has done for me is tell me that I need to review the AZ Evac plan and check my EVAC box again. Shipping wife and family out at the first sign of trouble with the big EVAC box. I'll stay until the mandatory. Figure I can help others til then and even then getting what/who I can in the truck.

I would join your club... and I do love my husband very much. But my four-legged family members can't flag down a chopper, neither open a door, nor ask for me by name.

This is me. And since I have an 80lb Boxer...there's no way I could just pick him up and let him sit on my lap in the helicopter! Buster Douglas would be in the minivan headed to Grandma's! LOL

This'll break your heart.
Check out these two pictures of the little dog, Snowball, running to the bus, trying to reach his 5 year old owner, then standing on it's hind legs after the door had closed.
