I was commenting on how liberals totally get it, their faux outrage is a pretense, and allows them cover for a deep pathology.

And your right of course about our conservative Reps in DC, they worship at feet of the NYT editorial board, and their co-horts, they are afraid.

Which brings me to my next criterion for future candidates, anyone who tells the DNC hacks, ie the MSM, to F off.

The fact of the matter is, the majority of these people, who suffered only property losses, will be much better off now. They will get new housing, clothing. They will probably get all of their gov't checks in arrears with a Christmas bonus to boot.

Another thing about Berry, less known perhaps, is that Johnny Johnson, his recently deceased boogie woogie piano player, and a model for countless others, including most of all Ian Stewart of the Rolling Stones, sobered up in the last decades and sued Chuck for half the royalties, claiming that he had co-written most of his songs, composing the music while Berry supplied the lyrics. He was too drunk to care at the time, the claim went, a reasonable one, as I read it. The case was finally thrown out of court, also recently, the court opining, if I recall correcly, that it was just too late. (Somewhere out there there must be a link to a source describing the whole matter in more detail.)

Never mind what IS "poverty"?

Having TVs and microwaves and cars as well as indoor plumbing is poverty?

We dumb down EVERYTHING in this country. THAT'S what's wrong w/America - and that's done mostly by commie !%#! Democrats. Who are too much of the population at ~50%.

"Must be awful to live in a country you hate this much."
bump

What is missing but implied:
1. The hurricane threat did not really threaten New Orleans until Reagan and his 'ilk' cheated their way into office.
2. Citizens in N.O. did not become poor until Reagan and his 'ilk' cheated their way into office.
3. Had Katrina only hit next year, Nagin's envisioned "private initiative, Operation Brother's Keeper, in which churches would enlist members with cars to offer rides to the have-nots", would have been a success - National Guard, Coast Guard, Navy, Army, and thousands of paid and volunteer rescuers would not have been needed.

Interesting. I hadn't read that. This is the song stuck in my head from yesterday. Yup, he is a horny bastard:

Little Queenie

I got lumps in my throat
When I saw her comin down the aisle
I got the wiggles in my knees
When she looked at me and sweetly smiled
Well there she is again
Standin over by the record machine
Well she looks like a model
On the cover of a magazine
But she's too cute
To be a minute over seventeen

Meanwhile I was thinkin'

Well if she's in the mood
No need to break it
I got the chance and I oughta take it
If she can dance we can make it
C'mon queenie let's shake it

I know I am in tinfoil hat mode here, but is it possible that the Democrat government in LA, with the assistance and encouragement of the national organization, made a concious decision to sacrifice a few of their poor constituents to obtain some useful 30 second political ad material?

The unintelligle work is CLOSE.

"CLOSE" doesn't rhyme with "budge". Could there be more than one version recorded? I know what I heard last time I heard the tune on the radio, and it wasn't close to "CLOSE". It's also possible that the unintelligibility was supplied courtesy of the radiostation!

The first settlements were in the 17th century; there was an "America" for well over 100 years before there was a "United States of."

Yup. Growing up in Connecticut, I lived in a house that was built in 1650-ish.

"Such a device" vastly better than you described existed: it's called "trains".

Commandeer the trains and network ahead of time and thousands upon thousands would've been out in a day.

Of course, we're ignoring those who WOULDN'T leave despite the meaningless "mandatory" evacuation - too late.

What is disheartening in this disaster is the fact that the MSM is using this opportunity to spread disinformation and hyperbole to bash Bush yet again. The fact is that New Orleans and Louisana are grossly mismanaged. The fact is that money allocated for Levees and pumps instead went to fund a Casino. The fact is that there has been studies, warnings, near disasters in the past. All have been ignored by the Mayor, and Governor. Even Bill Clinton did not bash President Bush.

With buses sitting under water, no planning by the city, no implementation of any kind of plan. We have yet another example of I cannot do for myself Government Take Care of Me itis. Those of us who are rational and able to source information realize there is plenty of blame to go around. We are also smart enough to realize the Race Pimps will be out in force with their hands out to use this disaster to fill their bank accounts.

No more. When will Whites wise up and stop being guilted into buying off the Race baiters. Fact most of the city evacuated when told to do so. Most of the city is Black. More Blacks benefitted from this advice from the Feds and the President than did Whites. I am tired of excusing the inexcusable and trying to focus the blame elsewhere.

I am appalled at the lack of accountability in Louisiana yet again under Democratic Control. There has been too much bureaucracy under FEMA. This must be addressed after the fact now is not the time to do so. The Race Card is being played yet again. Here is a fact that you will not hear talked about by the MSM. One hundred years of Black progress was erased in 10 years when Black Men were forced out of their families by AFDC guidelines instituted by Liberals. Now 70% of Black Children grow up without a Father in the home. Intact families are less likely to be poor, more likely to have children graduate from school and go on to College, less likely to abuse drugs, and less likely to Go to Jail.

Liberals have done more to harm Blacks than Conservatives ever have. Planned Parenthood's Abortion business is 40% Black Babies. They are carrying out a Liberal Eugenics program to depopulate African Americans. So talk to me about Conservatives you dumb Bitch.
