Very Informative!
This ping list is not author-specific for articles I'd like to share. Some for the perfect moral clarity, some for provocative thoughts; or simply interesting articles I'd hate to miss myself. (I don't have to agree with the author all 100% to feel the need to share an article.) I will try not to abuse the ping list and not to annoy you too much, but on some days there is more of the good stuff that is worthy of attention. You can see the list of articles I pinged to lately on my page.
You are welcome in or out, just freepmail me (and note which PING list you are talking about). Besides this one, I keep 2 separate PING lists for my favorite authors Victor Davis Hanson and Orson Scott Card.

Thanks for posting this. It's a long article, but I hope people take a look because it has a lot of good points and more importantly, facts to back them up.

for the slow response in New Orleans this week
I'm not sure that the starting premise is correct.

there were at least 6 murders, and 12 rapes among the enclosed evacuees How does this compare to similar period of time in NO before Katrina?

Good article.
I just pray that this whole incident teaches the government a bit about disaster response, and the citizen a lot on being self reliant.

Lisa Ling (formerly of "The View") was on Oprah's show today. One of the FIRST things out of her mouth was (paraphrasing here, but only a little) "I wonder, if this had happened to a community of afflurent white people, would it have taken *so* long for help to arrive for them?"
All disgust aside, it isn't too hard to tell that Lisa is Limosine Lib from Manhattan, is it?

The heavily editorialized "news" by all stations is a tragedy in itself. It is another disgraceful example that nothing is off limits when it comes to bias in the media. I do not exempt FOX NEWS from this "dog pack" mentality either.

I predict that when the water recedes, we will see a whole lot of cars in the flooded neighborhood where nobody owns a car because they are too poor. While there will be dead bodies, I don't expect tens of thousands. I do expect 1,000 - 1,500, which should NEVER happen in this country when we have the resources LIKE SCHOOL BUSES AND CITY BUSES to get people out in time.

Damn, back in Highschool she was on "Channel One" a new program they made us watch after during second period. Good to see she grew up and did nothing with her life.

New Orleans was fortunate in that the levees held for the time they did. Imagine the human loss if they had been breached on Monday morning.

Maybe Russert should be the one fired.
