Good afternoon.
"I'll be getting a battery radio. Also, three days of food/water is crazy....we need to keep a lot more on hand."
My hope is that more people will get it now that they can see the consequences of not prepping.
Having as much cash on hand as one can afford is also a good idea, and the ability to make fire. Folks tend to take too much for granted
The survival sites are probably swamped and I expect to see a resurgence of the militia movement. If this happens, then we will be a better nation despite Katrina.

Oh, certainly I don't trust Clinton, not at all. But he's part of the response now and if he criticizes part of the response, he has to explain how he could not have resolved the situation. I'm not saying he's trustworthy, but he's predictable. He won't put himself in a bad light and the clever politician can use that.

Exactly. Bush to locals: Lead, follow, or get the (insert family friendly term here) out of the way.
When the President is on a mission, the last thing you want to do is get in his way. Let's hear it for results oriented leadership.

"What in the world is she going to Houston for? The crisis is in her state, and she going where the people are safe and being taken care of. SHE IS COMPLETELY INCOMPETENT"
I sure wish she had gone to Houston.... that would display for the world the difference between a Governor focused upon managing the DISASTER which is in LA and a politician currying favor with her (she hopes) constituents.... as a welfare queen politician she wants to "work the crowd" among the refugees in Houston, to keep them on the Democratic plantation and especially to try to bring their votes back to LA. If she were really concerned with best management on the CRISIS she would focus all her waking hours upon situations in LA.... but we all know how well she has done with that....

We had no idea the president was coming, Mann saidWell, anybody who can miss the approach of a Cat 5 hurricane should be excused from knowing when the POTUS is going to appear in their area.

Whew. I'm glad I'm not the only one that noticed that. I was out, but let the tv run on the computer so I could rewind and listen to pressers.
I didn't hear a single thing from them. NOT ONE PUBLIC WORD. I was stunned. So stunned, that I didn't post about it because I figured I must have missed them...no one could be that inept.

Militia movements? That name's been to conscrtipted by white supremists and nobody (at least nobody I'd want to associate with) wants that.
Maybe the neighborhood watch groups need to ramp up & prepare for emergencies like this.

If you want Federal help you accept Federal control.
If you refuse Federal help you take the responsibility and the blame yourself.
It's that simple, Blanco. It's beyond the synapses of a liberal brain, I'm sure, but it's your choice. Decide!

They knew they would embarrass themselves, whine and whimper, burst into tears, etc. They chose to keep a lower profile, hoping to re-surface after the disaster and try to act as though they have been leaders in charge all along.

You must be disappointed that things have been going relatively smoothly in Mississippi and Alabama.

Do you think the fact that Mr. Dupree is a Democrat might possibly account for his remarks?

Hurricane Kathleen seems worse.
