nonexistent security suppo

Of course the ignorant morons in the Dinosaur Media STILL do not understand that the Feds have NO law enforcement authority. If they are SO upset at the "nonexistent" authority maybe they should as the LOCALS and the STATE who are responsible to provide it! The level of ignorance on BASIC facts in this story displayed by the "news media" is just staggering.

I read the Times every day. As long as you know the bias, you can deal with it.

The Times is the only (relatively) local paper which is actually written above a third grade reading level. It covers a much wider range of stories than the Philly Inquirer, too. And I couldn't live without the sunday book review and crossword!

I'd say that having these medical folks on the road and able to respond is noteworthy. Choreographing every move in a natural disaster is impossible. There's an old phrase that should be remembered, "Make yourself useful." That should be the understood order of the day in these circumstances.

IIRC, they were just medical personnel without supplies or security.

Somewhere floating around here on FR is the link to the pdf of the Governor's official assistance request, which outlines what the local response would be regarding shelters and facilities set up.

I'm starting to wonder if they did NONE of the things stated in that official letter and so when FEMA sent teams to those places, nothing was there.

That letter also include monetary estimates for funds to operate these places and activities. I'm starting to wonder if LA has been scamming FEMA funds during every hurricane for operating non existant shelters and rescue operations.

That's the first intelligent comment that I have read about the NY Times in a long, long time. The most common remark is the juvenile "Slimes". Besides the MSM, the only alternative primary news source that has national and world coverage is the Fox News Channel and FOXNEWS.com, and the latter has plenty of AP stories. Looking at many regional papers, many of their front page stories are from NY Times, LA Times and Washington Post. Their stories can't be avoided. You just need a little common sense when they are pushing their agendas.

There needs to be a HUGE investigation into this. The truth is out there, but being largely ignored so that folks can blame Bush.
