The Hand of Bush is long Mr. Nagin - be afraid, very afraid.

This has to be culmination moonbattery by a public official in the US. Jeesh.

Valid criticism, I think. There ARE a few big churches in this area that have been designed to FUNCTION, also small ones; they feed the poor and house the homeless as Jesus taught. Then, on the other hand, there are also a lot of mega churches as well as small ones that are little more than private country clubs for their members who are afraid the poor will interfere with (evidently) their latest sports function or lavish wedding or else soil their expensive carpeting or steal some of the silver accessories in the vestibule. This is carnal Christianity at its most hypocritical level, I think.

New Orleans Mayor Ray Nagin tells CNN Saturday night that he believes the CIA will "wipe him out"... He may be right...if his own people don't do it first.

Isn't he the same clown who fired non-black city employees in order to hire enough blacks to proportionally represent the city's population? IIRC it ended up in a lawsuit that the city lost.

This is an epic unfolding...the state and local dems beat their chests while the President performs...title it something like "Can Do vs.Boo Hoo".

You have to remember that New Orleans is a heavy Democratic city; a Republican quite simply stands no chance at all of ever being elected mayor of New Orleans. New Orleans is also a very corrupt city, and has been ineptly administered for generations. I lived there for many years, and my family goes back to the 1840s in New Orleans; my wife's family goes back to the 1700s in New Orleans. There are many VERY smart people in New Orleans, but they all stay away from politics, except for some of them, who are very political behind the scenes, where a lot of them are very influential (probably because they don't want to get indicted along with the politicos)

Wow, GOPJ what christian pissed in your cornflakes?

Churches are in neighbor hoods, if the neighborhood is under 15 feet of water so is the church. If the electricity and water is out in the neighborhood, so it is at the neighborhood church. Churches are often the same age as the neighborhood too. A 50 to 100 year old neighbor hood will have the same age church.........So, put 20 families in a 75 year old church, in 15 feet of water with no elec, or water, sewer etc., uh, yeah, that's a big help.

I can tell you from my own experience with my own church and with other churches in my area (western Washington) that not only are we busy doing big drives for children and families in Many foreign lands, not just Africa, we are involved in locally feeding the poor in out neighborhoods and gathering and distributing food and clothing to where ever it is needed by anyone, in this country. We have some very talented artists in various mediums who can always be counted on to contribute artwork to sales and auctions to benefit the desperate and the needy and for self help in developing countries. All year round.

Without delaying or with holding any if this, we will reach deeper immediately to contribute to all the people in need in the states hit hardest by Katrina. regardless of the religous or political leanings of the recipients.

Our pastors and their families do take vacations. Why not? They work hard everyday, every week, every month. Most of the time they take working vacations, to bring care and comfort to the underprivileged in the places they visit.

I guess you must have had a very bad experience with some church somewhere. Or maybe you just read the headlines when some Televangelist flames out and gets caught with his pants down. Maybe you have never experienced the closeness and caring of a Christian congregation. I thought alot like you before I found my spiritual home. I cried out to the Lord and he guided me to him and to grace. I can not describe the happiness and joy.

Oh, btw, my church is Pentecostal. Assembly of God. There's one in your neighborhood. Take a shot........it's pretty good.

I saw him this morning (he only talks to CNN)and he was
claiming credit for evacuating all the people! Sheesh--
could've sworn it was our glorious military and first responders. Also, he reiterated that he told the President
and Gov. to get their act together. How W didn't deck him
I will never know.
