If what he said is true, someone needs to do something about it. Glad they got everyone out of the city. But that is no reason to ignore the burbs.

If one of the Baldwin boys is in it, I doubt it. I signed up primarily for tutoring (retired teacher) but they are enrolling in Longview ISD, or maybe in Pine Tree.

I could be wrong, but I believe I heard he's been out of country and just back. That said, he's got his own company and a smart cookie. I bet he's negotiating a contract, not so much for the $s (though I'm sure they're included) but making every T is crossed and i is dotted to try to assure no repercussions from the Dims or the LSM when he throws his hat in the ring).

Identity theft. Good warning. May I recommend you make this a BRAND NEW THREAD -- Others might find it more easily, and possibly pass the word on.

< I just saw a Fox News interview of a woman and a child who actually danced at the end singing "Thank you all! We're getting out of New Orleans! Thank you all! We're getting out of New Orleans!" >
I saw that too. With her and the girl on the copter with a big smile, my heart was lifted. Finally we see some smiles.
I would venture a guess that a whole lot of these people are going to a better living arrangement than they've had.
Anybody know if there is news of Jackie from Sunday night? I would give Jackie and her family a home in a minute. She was such an inspiration.

Streaming update:
All information is subject to change. Many stations are relying on their corporate parents to configure and maintain Internet streaming. Because of the intense interest in the feeds, they may be unavailable at times because of network congestion or a problem feeding the video to the streaming servers.
WWL-TV New Orleans - WWL-TV is operating from studios at Louisiana Public Broadcasting.
CBS has a relay during the morning and afternoon. When available, use the CBS relay first as they have greater streaming capacity. They have a
secondary stream from Yahoo. WWL-TV is also offering a special
low-bandwidth audio-only stream for dial-up users.
WDSU-TV New Orleans - The news staff has started to return to temporary news studios near New Orleans. However, expect evening coverage from Hearst-Argyle sister stations WAPT Jackson and WESH Orlando when the New Orleans staff needs to take a break.
WGNO-TV New Orleans - New Orleans' ABC affiliate has returned to the air with WBRZ-TV and launched video streaming with continuous Katrina coverage.
WPMI-TV Mobile, AL - WPMI is webcasting from 5:30am - 10:30pm CDT. When off air, you can view pre-recorded reports on demand. This feed is often unreliable.
WKRG-TV Mobile, AL - This station is providing good coverage of the situation to the east in Mississippi and Alabama. However, the station is now signing off at around 10:30pm CDT like WWL and WPMI.
WJTV-TV Jackson, MS - The CBS affiliate in Jackson is providing live coverage for both the Jackson area and south Mississippi (knowing a lot of media in that area is off the air).
WFAA-TV Dallas, TX - WFAA-TV is here because Dallas is one of the evacuation cities.
United Radio From New Orleans: WWL-AM, WNOE-FM, "KISS-FM," WRNO-FM, WYLD-FM, and WJBO-AM (Clear Channel & Entercom) who have joined forces as United Radio From New Orleans, and they are streaming.
Gulf Coast Storm Network (Clear Channel Radio) - Clear Channel offers radio listeners across the gulf coast access to a simulcast emergency radio service. This service seems primarily focused on Alabama and Mississippi, but does cover Louisiana to some degree.
Streaming Public Safety Communications Links
Baton Rouge Statewide Police + US Customs/US Coast Guard Operations (subject to congestion - try again later if it doesn't load) - Note: Two different radio services air concurrently - police on the right speaker channel and Customs/Coast Guard on the left.:

10,000 people airlifted today, largest evacuation in US History
Nice as that may be, it SHOULD have been done by 9 PM (local time of course) Monday night.

The only people thanking Shep are the democrats because he managed to make the entire world think this was Bush's fault. If he had bothered to go to the hotel right behind where he was standing, the mayor had his command and control center right there. But did Shep do that? Did he even mention that? No, he gave everyone the impression that the US government was failing people.

"soon they will be asking FEMA to give them free guns!" You missed the point. Baton Rouge is a refugee haven right now. The local citizenry is arming itself.

Coast Guard sailors carry an injured evacuee off the ferry in Algier's Point in New Orleans, La., Saturday, Sept. 3, 2005. the evacuees were moved by helicopter to a evacuation staging area and then put on buses for points West

Nice as that may be, it SHOULD have been done by 9 PM (local time of course) Monday nightWouldn't have taken as long as it has if more of the folks who were able to leave had had the sense to leave. And if the locals had made provisions for those who were unable to go.

No speakers for this computer. I'm technically between homes myself. I wonder if the folks evacuated from Louisiana like dry heat? The problem is that thanks to the enviroweenies, we don't have much of a job base.
Heck, send them to the desert if they want to go.

I'm not from New Orleans, MI, or ALA, but:
I just keep hoping that when I wake up the next day this will all be some horrible nightmare
It's been the same for me all week. I wake up.. and within seconds I remember. It comes back. It's not a nightmare. It's real.

NBC live showing extensive fires in NO.
Extensive as in block after block, fully involved along the riverfront.
Could use any long range aerial stills people have, looking to see how close we are to the knuckle in the curve.

How will we ever thank him? A good long break - say 8 weeks or so. That'd be a start.
