In a 1995 case, Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia warned: "To pursue the concept of racial entitlement even for the most admirable and benign of purposes is to reinforce and preserve for future mischief the way of thinking that produced race slavery, race privilege and race hatred. In the eyes of the government, we are just one race here. We are American." How can it be better said?

I have a 48 star flag. Maybe we can persuade Massachusetts to secede.

The Hawaii bill is unconstitutional relying on racial voting restrictions that fly in the face of the 15th Amendment What about the 14th Amendment - equality under the law?

I have heard that from several Navy vets who were stationed on Hawaii.
They told me they native neighborhoods were no place for a paleface to go.

Scalia has it correct. Remember the outcry against formerly Rhodesia now Zimbabwe? South Africa? The idea of segregation? Busing? Now Hawaii wants segregation and all the peripheral back?

This pending decision by Congress will immediately affect Hawaii but it will also set a precedent for similiar actious throughout the US soon thereafter. Hawaiian activists are working in concert with many "nations" throughout the US in this effort. The decision of Congress next week has the potential to dismantle the United Sates as we know it, which is really the goal of "soverign" movements. Let there be no doubt about it!

Get out those old 49 star flags... There is nothing wrong with cutting them loose.
I don't understand the thinking among freepers here that bigger is always better. It's not. The bigger the country, the more you share political power with those that want the opposite of what you want.
Letting them live the way they want to live and by themselves, means you get to live the way you want to.

This is all the fault of the U.S. Congress. In 1993, they "apologized" for annexing Hawaii. That started this whole thing in motion. If you "apologize" for a crime, won't there be a movement to seek "justice"?

"Hawaii natives tend to be racist."
I have lived in Hawaii for over 30 yrs as a white guy .
I have always found the 'real Hawaiians' to be as warm and loving as the term Aloha implies. The great majority of them I have personally known and met at least. It is the other ethnics , whose claims to be 'locals' is based on the color of their skin ,as opposed to mine , that can be the mean and the dangerous ones. Because they are brown they feel they have some 'native rights' over we whites , even if we have been here far longer and contributed far more to society here.
If their is to be another Independent Hawaiian Nation , I just hope the true and good hearted Hawaiians run it , and all of us that have invested our lives here receive an equal degree of respect and rights , rather than it being based on color alone. If it goes that way ,there could be a real revolution or armed resistance movement . It could get nasty.....

Letting them live the way they want to live and by themselves, means you get to live the way you want to. If you had a referendum of the people of a state and the vast majority voted to secede that would be OK by me. I actually believe that the Constitution was written with that in mind.
But if only people of a certain genetic make up were allowed to vote in this referendum that is not OK by me.
I also have no problem sharing power with people who want to live differently than I do as long as they are willing to live by the same Constitution as I do.

Fine, you can kick out California- but just remember to take Reagan's name off everything, repeal any legislation he enacted, and put tax rates back where they were before he was in office.

They told me they native neighborhoods were no place for a paleface to go. EVERY place has "native neighborhoods" where people who look a certain way aren't welcome.
Folks who say these things specifically about Hawaii need to stop playing the race card themselves.

EVERY place has "native neighborhoods" where people who look a certain way aren't welcome. You are of course correct. Every neighborhood has its racist. Native or otherwise.
My Navy vet friends also said the Native Hawaiians tended to be in the poorer neighborhoods.
And in poorer neighborhoods you are likely to find the less educated and those with a chip on their shoulder itching for a fight with those they believe are unfairly better off than themselves.
