A few figures that I recently heard. I may be wrong with regard to actual but I know I'm close. Mind you these figures were compiled before Katrine

In population New Orleans ranks #37th. in the Country.

Murder rate per capita in New Orleans is #1 among all U.S. Cities.

Prosecution rate for murder that result in guilty convictions for New Orleans District Attorney's Office runs somewhere between 37% and 41%.

People living in New Orleans are more likely to be murdered and murderers are more likely to avoid conviction.
