I have figures in my possession that indicate a total maximum death toll of 410,000 Americans and a minimum death toll of 41,000 Americans. When I read critically, I look at the way the author chooses to express himself. Using loaded expressions like, "I have figures in my possession..", indicates that the author is trying to sound tuned in. This guy would like us all to think that he has some magic numbers when really
well, let me re-write his sentence:
My wild ass guess at the death toll would be 41,000 to 410,000.

Order is the first order of business This is exactly what Gulianni and the NYPD did in downtown Manhattan. This allowed emergency services to do their jobs unhindered. It also assured that only the best of humanity would show its face during the crisis.

I didn't know you were a FReeper. I found this on a little message board and brought it here to share with others because I was so impressed with it. Now I see why you're so smart ... you're a FReeper! ;)
Excellent piece!

A very well reasoned & even better stated assesment of the problems faced by the political leadership. Have you ever done any disaster exercise / wargame planning ?

You will find the bodies still in the houses usually on upper floors or in the attic or else under the ruble & debris of collapsed structures.
