"they don't have a clue what's going on down here"

This is what it is all about

Ray, if you can read, buy this book. You get what you plan for. You planned for S**t, and now you have it.

Mr. Mayor also fails to mention that he was supposed to order the mandatory evacuation of New Orleans a full 72 hrs. before the hurricane hit. NOT 24 hrs. He himself cost countless lives by adopting a wait and see attitude in the days before being hit.

http://www.weather.com/newscenter/specialreports/hurricanes/vulnerablecities/neworleans.html

Half of the 1 million people who live in the metro area evacuated as Georges drove toward the city, resulting in gridlock on the roads. Since Georges, city officials designed a plan that would provide a more orderly evacuation. It is to begin 72 hours before a storm hits, and end when the winds become too dangerous for motorists, according to Hijuelos.

The challenge will be convincing people to leave some three days before a hurricane makes landfall.

I am very frustrated because we are not able to marshal resources

Yes, Mr. Mayor? 'Zackly who is "we"? You're supposed to be the guy in charge - you live there.

The MSM, race pimps, and liberals never fail to point out that the overwhelming color of the victims are Black. Yet, these same cretins are strangely silent as to the overwhelming White color of those doing all that is humanly possible to rescue those Black victims.

Anybody got his email? Send this picture to him, with an exact quote of your response, that'll cheer him up. And CC: the email to every new station you can think of.

Congressional Black Caucus on now, piling on as usual.

"This is not our finest hour."

May not be, but N.O. is reacting more like Somalia than a US city IMO. Where else have the rescue operations in helicopters been met with gunfire in US? Where else has FEMA conducted operations while children are being raped in the streets? (That's according to a Fox reporter this morning.)

A few days ago, I came up with the name "Mogadishu on the Mississippi."

"Uh, Mr. Mayor, what about all those school busses that were submerged in the flood waters? Did you ever consider for one second that those now useless busses could have been deployed to get those people out"

Why didn't he do that? They have known for 40 years that something like this could happen. Why weren't plans made by the mayor, and the governor for dealing with a disaster? Why did they wait til Saturday to call for evacuations? Why didn't the governor have the national guard and state police on stand-by? (I've read that there weren't enough police in NO long before Katrina struck).

All these questions, and many more could be asked, but now is not the time. The mayor seems to have regressed to a 10 year old child having a temper tantrum, and blaming everyone else for his mistakes.

Too bad, the people of NO need leadership- they are not going to get it from their elected officials.

By the way all you, screaming about how much help they are not getting- It took 3 days to deploy the national guard during the Los Angeles riots- that was with everything working- the roads were clear, the had electricity, phone service, everything- the area was no where near the 90,000 square miles of damaged area from Katrina- it still took 3 days to get the guard to the riots.

"Mogadishu on the Mississippi"

Excellent! Maybe whatever they replace N.O. with when it's rebuilt will be called that.

Hey even Richard Hoagland played the race card on Coast to Coast last night.

The host who replaced Art Bell on Coast to Coast is a rabid Leftist kook. Bell was never all that great, in my opinion, but at least he was politically neutral most of the time. The dude who replaced Bell is a menace in what he spews out. No far Left conspiracy theory is too extreme -- he gleefully puts it all on the air.

Nagin has rendered himself irrelevant.

After 9/11 it was days before the federal relief services arrived. In those first few days it was Giuliani and the NYPD and NYFD and Con Ed and other city agencies spearheading recovery efforts.

It's not exactly the same analogy but in the case of New Orleans, FEMA assets were pre-positioned, a federal emergency was declared by Bush BEFORE the hurricane hit and the evacuation was ordered.

The responsibility for this weeks failures lay squarely at the feet of Nagin and Blanco. Their leadership has been disgraceful and pathetic.

I don't understand this at all. Not at all. Florida commandeers school buses to evacuate the elderly, so why were all those elderly left in New Orleans?

If the LA-SPCA had the forsight to evacuate all their animals to Houston-SPCA on Saturday, I'm at a complete loss to understand why NO didn't undertake a massive evacuation of its elderly.

No sources. I just remember because I was watching FOX in the morning and I remember Steve saying something to that effect - the organizations trying to provide relief were none to happy about the commotion he was causing. And, of course, the left started chiming in on that chorus. I remember thinking how ridiculous that was.

The Feds (as well as the state of Florida) were slow in getting relief operations going after Hurricane Andrew passed thru.

You need to learn the real story. Lawton Chiles, on advice from the DNC, initially refused the aid that Bush I offered. Then when the hurricane hit, they all sang that Bush I was "too slow." Bastards...

I was watching 'Today' this morning and it was mentioned that Nagin was in Baton Rouge. He isn't even in his own city in it's time of need. Granted, he probably couldn't (or wouldn't) do much of real work if he were there, but just providing presence and a sense of civil authority being around and aware of people's situations, would be a heck of a lot better than jawboning the pols in Baton Rouge.
