Reid behaved more responsibly than the MSM. I'm rapidly coming to the conclusion the biggest threats to restoration of resources and calm is the MSM (I include FOX).

How about the little boy getting on a bus and the police confiscated his dog! They said he cried until he vomited.

It would just be nice to hear offers of help from other states that are not far from LA. Perhaps they could just send buses to bus the people to Texas. Something.

It makes no sense to spend billions of dollars to rebuild a city that's seven feet under sea level

Not only rebuild, but better equip it for a future event. I am kinda siding with Denny on this.

I just talked with my family down in Baton Rouge... now I know rumors are running amok, but I wanna ask freepers if theres any truth to this... They say that some New Orleans cops are turning in their badges saying something like, They've already lost their homes, and they don't wanna lose their lives. Is there any truth to this? Are NOPD guys walking out of this situation? Any answers are appreciated. Thanks.

"Jesse Jackson on LK just stated he believes people are exagerating about the snipers shooting at rescuers.
He needs to get his butt in a helicopter & help the rescuers then..."

Maybe they can dangle him from one of the rescue helicopters, and he can shout, "Don't shot, it's me Jesse!

Re: 1067 If these MRE's are or are like the freeze dried stuff used for camping the spaghetti and meat sauce is good, too. It's my kids favorite when they go backpacking."

Mre's are more like biol in the nag meals, that you supposedly can choke down without even heating them, hence Meals, Ready to Eat. There's a chemical heat pack, add water, shove it in the nag, wait ten, presto hot meals.

I use freezedried myself, the MREs are too heavy to carry a lot of them.

Noah's wish claims to be ready to go in and get the animals.
In the morning. Says they have official clearance. Let's hope they don't get shot.

I think Texas is in better shape to deal with these thugs than the crisis mode that NO is in. Everything set up at the Astrodome seems tip top. And there are state police all over.

Nah, they were "strategically positioned" close by...you'd think they had to cross the Pacific.

Sadly "Snowball" would require resources that could keep a human being alive. Harsh reality will strenghten this child. This is definately not the time in these devastated areas to go wobbly on whether animals or humans live. Once things have stabilized, other puppies will be around. Nothing replaces a human life. Ever.

I posted earlier that public schools in Rapides Parish are closed tomorrow because the buses are being dispatched to New Orleans. They will take the refugees to Houston. The newscasters keep saying that the Governor "commandeered" the buses and their drivers. Since there is concern for the drivers' safety, they will be accompanied by members of the Rapides Parish Sheriff's Office.

There have been several ambulance companies that left N.O. altogether....and I dont blame them. Each unit should have an armed person in them.

There is a guy in BR who after the storm walked the levee to BR,,it really isn't that hard. To Laplace would have been a nice brisk walk of about 12 hours I do believe.

Clothing donations are not a good idea. You have to sort and store and they get trashed and rained on etc. Money and your time are the best things you can give. Our Republican Women's club spent many hours in one of the worst hit areas of Hurricane Charlie last August. We worked with the Catholic Church in Wauchula and we did bring hot food, soda, water, and detergents, mops, brooms, paper towels etc. We took up collections and then hit the Dollar STores.
