"I think he needs to do it for two good reasons," said Bill Whalen, a fellow at the Hoover Institution who worked for former Republican Gov. Pete Wilson. "It will invigorate the Republican base, which he sorely needs to do if he has any chance to win the special election. And it sends a positive message to the donor community that he's not going to cut and run."

Talk about a crapshoot..

"I don't walk away from things that I think are unfinished," Schwarzenegger told KCRA-TV in Sacramento. That's a pretty good indication he's running.

His opponent if he does run?
Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa, left, and California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger laugh when Viallraigosa was asked during a news conference, if he would seek the Democratic nomination for governor in next year's election, at the Governor's office in Sacramento, Calif., Tuesday, Aug. 30, 2005. Villaraigosa, a former Assembly Speaker, met with Schwarzenegger for an hour to discuss issues related to homeland security, transportation and tax credits for movie production.(AP Photo/Rich Pedroncelli)

I am hopeful someone from the CA GOP will post his and their accomplishments at the booth and in the legislature the last few years that would so invigorate Republicans , much less conservatives, to follow him off a cliff blind-folded.

Who do you think is running California today?
A liberal RINO is no better then a Democrat.

Tom McClintock needs to debate Arnold. In reality, Tom probably couldn't win (I'd like to think he could), but a debate may serve to move Arnold a little further to the right.

Well, folks are sure familiar with Tom's name now, since the recall.
That would really be something, wouldn't it?

No one will be able to in 2006 after the rule change the GOP made... lol
The CA GOP 86'ed a 2006 primary during it's convention 2 years ago after Arnold stepped to the plate swinging on the Tonight Show and won the Recall.
Kind of a messy way to run a party, huh? ;-)

Really? I thought the 'no primary' was just for the recall.
Is it indefinate, or only for 2006?

The Recall was a "Take All Comers" affair. If ya had some signatures and some money for fees, you were in.
The NO primary was done at the next GOP convention after the Recall went down..
Not sure if it was 2006 only ..
maybe one of the attendees can clarify or I'll dig it up later. I am headed for a dip in the pool. It's mid 90s here right now.
