well you got to try something ---
Did you watch the floods of the Mississippi and the levee breeches carrying away barns, houses, anything/everything?
Anybody who has lived near a river or any other levee knows that if breeched, it won't stop until the water is gone. This also applies to bodies of water as small as a fish pond.
U.S. military? The military is trained for war - now, if you want all the looters shot on site - great idea - call in the military - that is their job and they are very efficient.
I heard that the guard SUPPORT and CONSTRUCTION units are on their way to the striken area - that is their job and it is what they are very efficent doing.
Too do exactly what?.
Reminds me of a old joke. Around a 7 year old when asked what he wanted for Christmas replied a brother to play with. The mother explained that there wasnt enough time for that. After some reflection replied well why dont you do what dad does at work and put more men on the job.
I repeat, Too do exactly what?.
Baton Rouge is going to be a much larger city. It will almost exactly parallel the relationship between Houston and Galveston.
Conceivably, New Orleans could end up as a mid-size tourist town. The French Quarter will still be there, and it will still be a tourist mecca, but as a business center, it could be finished.
Link to lots of pics of Miss, & Louisiana:

I think you maybe right.. I hate to see the French Quarter go away...
It is terrible the tragedy of New Orleans. I still have not heard from my uncle, my aunt and several cousins that live in River Ridge/Kenner/Hanrahan....I hope that they were able to get out before Terrible Katrina came into town...
It is, but I have a feeling that New Orleans will come back...
I think they should plug the breach in the levee with environmentalists.
That and the bodies of the LOOTERS.
"I think they should plug the breach in the levee with environmentalists."
No way! The water is already polluted enough!
I think they need to use something with more substance.
This is doable. An excellent back to work project for the looters.
" Gov Blanco confirmed Nagins statement on Larry king '
Governor BlankLook said that the Corps of Engineers tried and failed and that it was " too little, too late."
Blaming them for not being miracle workers.
The breach is along a city drainage canal that connects to Lake Pontchartrain.
The volume of water available is basically the Gulf of Mexico, to a depth of 18'.
If they block off the canal at its head, they don't have to worry so much about the breach itself. The breach is several blocks away from the lake.
At least, that's what my sister in New Orleans told me.
The political spin is already starting. Supposedly, the levee had been earmarked for needed improvements, but the Bush Administration turned the city down flat, wouldn't pay for it. "It's all Bush's fault."
Don't know where the equities lie on this one -- whether Bush has real exposure on this, or whether it's just the politicians' lips moving again down in Louisiana.
To do whatever is necessary! If someone is hurting, you give a helping hand. If they can do it in Iraq, the sure as hell can do it at home. FWIW, 60,000 National Guard troops have been activated to be sent to the disaster sites.
Blanklook-No Answers+It's all their fault+I have time to be on Larry King.
I'm listening to the mayor on CNN and he sounds like an idiot.
