He seems to ignore the basic fact that primaries happen before elections and in both parties, the more "extreme" ends bring out the party faithful for Round One of voting. McCain and Rudy are the least likely candidates to win a Republican nomination. Even at this stage, I would be more likely to handicap George Allen than other one of his picks.

Democrats are more personality-centric than Republicans so the race is Hillary's to lose, no matter which side of the road she decides to run on. And he's spitting in the wind to ever articulate the idea that she's some sort of moderate. She's also a Christian, but her self-descriptions and rhetoric never seem to quite align with her actions.

As long as Howard Dean is their leader, Democrats have made it very clear that they are a party of liberal hate-mongers.

Maybe this article plays well for his employer, but it doesn't reveal consistency for his regular readers and party members.

He's my favorite on Fox and I think that he's an absolute savant when it comes to American political demographics (Krauthammer would be the equivalent with regard to foreign affairs). However, this article doesn't seem to fit with other things he's articulated over the years.

Barone is usually pretty good, and I like him.
But he is way off with this column. Way, way off.

Neither can win the election, because conservatives would stay home.

I sure would.
