Someone smart is probably speculating on land around Ft Bliss as we speak.

Up to now it's been the home of Air Defense Artillery....mostly a home for Advanced Individual Training of Basic Trainees. That would keep it fairly busy, but it wouldn't be the same as having a fighting division and a Cav brigade. That's pretty active.

Not sure why, but one of the Brigade Combat Teams's from the 1ID will be based in Fort Knox, Kentucky, while the other 3 will be based in Fort Riley, Kansas.

It's a bad decision to have it at Ft Knox. It's purely a concession to keeping that old place open. Indiana, Ohio, Tennessee, and Kentucky senators teamed up to take care of their states.

There is not enough room for a fighting brigade to train at Ft Knox....but there is a great firing range.
