HUH! The founders "basically " set up the two party system? What history book are you reading? The Founders rejected the idea of political factions as they referred to the parties. What you are suggesting is abhorrent. You are suggesting that we vote for the party regardless of the candidate. My party right or wrong? Not this old man!

There must be a spot on FR for liars and Dane has filled it.

George Washington, Farewell Address in The American Reader, ed. Diane Ravitch (New York: Harper Collins, 1990), 38-39. Let me now take a more comprehensive view, and warn you in the most solemn manner against the baneful effects of the spirit of party generally . . . It serves always to distract the public councils and enfeeble the public administration. It agitates the community with ill-founded jealousies and false alarms; kindles the animosity of one part against another; foments occasionally riot and insurrection. It opens the door to foreign influence and corruption, which find a facilitated access to the government itself through the channels of party passion. [3]

"The FR Grifter Group is manning their battle notebooks once again."

And the FR Quisling Group is busy mounting attacks on Gilchrist.

Phhhtttt! He's not even a (R)!

"(I)(Q) stands for Incredibly small percentage of votesgaggle of quislings on FR."

Either the GOP will emerge more conservative or a 3rd party will represent the conservative base. Either is better, since we are not represented now!

I agree, SV. I can count the real conservatives in Congress on one hand. It's time for a third party who will actually represent American citizens/taxpayers before our republic dissolves.

Ballot designation cannot be 'Minuteman Movement Founder'

SANTA ANA, Calif. California congressional hopeful Jim Gilchrist has been told that he can't use the phrase "Minuteman movement founder" as his ballot designation.

That ruling comes from the California Secretary of State's Office.

Gilchrist is among 17 candidates in an October fourth special election to succeed Republican Congressman Christopher Cox. He resigned last month to become chairman of the Securities and Exchange Commission.

He's running as a member of the American Independent Party.

The Minuteman Project founded by Gilchrist promotes citizen patrols along the U-S-Mexico border.
