This network hasn't cared one whit about any of the outrageous assassination threats that George Bush gets from members of the left.Correct. Beyond that, FOX News played the clip from the 700 Club in which Robertson made the quote in question, and just like they do with Rush Limbaugh, the MSM has taken what Robertson said, completely out of context. (as usual)

And the difference between Robertson saying what he said and an inman calling for jihad is ...The MSM plays the imam's comments unedited with translation, while telling us what Robertson said in their own words. Put it in it's proper context, it wasn't as big a deal as the media made it out to be. I've always thought Robertson was a nut, but I have to say, the media made a big deal out of nothing. Most of Robertson's worldwide audience aren't going to take it upon themselves to assassinate some repugnant thug dictator.

That's pretty good! But you mean "right-wing extremist web site Free Republic" "It was amazing Thursday to watch the documents story go from FreeRepublic.com, a bastion of right-wing lunacy, to Drudge to the mainstream media in less than 12 hours," said Jim Jordan, a strategist for independent Democratic groups opposed to Bush, and Kerry's former campaign manager.
"That's not to say the documents didn't deserve examination."But apparently the entire thing was cooked up by a couple of amateurs on Free Republic. The speed with which it moved was breathtaking.

"OK, when Chavez has his head sawed off with a knife for the whole world to see by lunatic Christians who say they did it because Pat Robertson told them to, THEN I'll grant you your point." Could not agree with you more. Looks to me like "Utopia" made a blatantly stupid comment and just looks more foolish with every attempt to defend it. I'm willing to bet that he never read what Robertson said, but rather what other people said about what Robertson said.

Using "religion" as a cloak to justify a call to murder cheapens the religion. Dude give it up...you've been smacked down more times than Steve Austin's opponents.

The obvious difference is that Kilborn and Baldwin weren't serious. Making references to killing the president is always serious, my friend.

Fully agreed. But there's still a difference between what Kilborn did and what Robertston did. Intent does mean something in cases like this. And Baldwin said what he said on Saturday Night Live I think. He always looks slightly unhinged. Nobody took him seriously (as always) and the audience laughed when he said it.

Baldwin was on the Conan O'Brien show, and NBC immediately apologized and pulled the footage of the show the next day.

Christianity (from the eyes of Pat) = kill those who disagree with US interests?
No. Stop talking and listen. He is not wanting the death of those who just disagree with US interests. Chavez is OUTRIGHT being agressive toward the US people. All of us. There are many countries out there who would love to see the fall of the Great Power, the Great Satan.
Chavez has been messing around in Columbia. Chavez has courted Castro. If you do not see the threat that Chavez is becoming, you are blind. Robertson is right in his logic. Many Americans see it the same way that he does. He may be religious, but he can still make comments on political matters. Separation of church and state right?
As said many times already, he is not CALLING for his death. He is acknowledging that he is a threat that will have to be dealt with. He also said in his remarks that taking out this one man would be a way of saving our troops from having to go through another Iraq exercise.
If he is wrong in his statements, how would you handle Chavez?

Pat Robertson is a mainstream figure in conservative politics. What mainstream figures in liberal politics have called for the assassination of Bush? This is a pansy-assed cop-out by Rushbo.
1) Pat Robertson is not mainstream
2) MANY people were calling and still call for the assassination of our President. There were books out last year calling for his assassination. Randi Rhodes on Err America had a skit shooting the President.

Wrong, wrong...wrong again. He was on Conan O'Brien, like I said before I was watching it that night and saw him. He "looks" unhinged? No, the manner in which he was SAYING it was unhinged.
The real question is why are you so interested in excusing what this guy said?

Chavez is OUTRIGHT being agressive toward the US peopleWhat?!? He has invisible WMDs too? What Chavez thinks of this nation is of, or should be, no concern to anyone. He hasn't attacked our borders and there are no plans that we've seen that he would attack our borders. As a Christian, I am sickened to see so many try to justify what this idiot spouts off on his 'christian' show.

Probably CNN. Bingo. Every time that I surfed past CNN they were talking about it. Even Blitzer seemed obsessed. It was so bad that Brit Hume made a comment about CNN's obsession with Robertson on his Special Report last evening.

" "The mainstream media does not set the agenda of this show!"
Nope - it used to be an event-driven show.
Is a Conservative " broadcaster, statesman, author, humanitarian, businessman and Christian." calling for an assassination not an event ?
