I think we are starting to get a really good idea of what Sandy Burglar took!

"It's not where I left it back in March of 2003," Shaffer said, which was "in a Department intelligence facility in the Northern Virginia area."
What is not where you left it? A Single document? A box containing numerous documents? 15 boxes of copies of original documents?
"Shaffer told C-Span he had "one full set of Able Danger documents in my holdings from the DIA."
Does this mean "his full set" of all the documents are now missing from where he keeped them at the DIA?
This is either very sloopy reporting, or something is not on the level.
Furthermore as indicated by some, if the documents where typed on any word processor, that implies files that should be stored on one or more computers, perhaps in one or more directories on a system. It could even mean a group that worked on this project all have copies of the originals on other systems etc.. And of course if the particular systems are multiuser systems, e.g. UNIX, Linux or an IBM mainframe type OPS, there should be backups on other disks, tapes etc..
I am sure they where not working on just one windoze based system on this project. Or where they?
Something is truely not right here. If I was a system administrator on the projects computer(s), I would have made backups using programs that where secure, no body would have gotten at them unless they literally removed the whole hard disk's file systems(s), thereby destroying heaven know what other project data that would have been backed up on the same tar files or other tar files for instance. What the hell kind of people work at these facilities?

The Bush Administration is going to cover this up. Looks like they are well under way.

Somebody got to Shaffer already?
Hmm...hadn't he just met with Arlen Specter and his staff to provide them "information"?
But let's face it -- if EVER a fix was going to be in, it's now. IMO, both sides of the aisle are neck-deep.

Where did those lost FBI files finally turn up? Hummm?

I guess I'm late to this story. Is Lt. Col. Anthony Shaffer retired? Active Duty? Reserve? Why is he allowed to discuss all of this?

If this information was obtained through data mining the Internet then obviously they were using computers and the mountains of information in printed out form came from a computer.
I think I heard something like 2.5 terabytes of information had been collected before the operation was shut down in early 2001. That is a lot of hard drive space most likely access through a network server within the building these secret operations were conducted by Able Danger.
Due to the fact the building they resided in had network access through an intra-net and the Internet most likely someone was responsible to maintain that network internally. That person or group working in a secret environment like that would have taken great strides to maintain that network including daily backups of the main server and any network connected computers that retained vital information to be protected.
Most IT professional maintain at least three backups in a rotation with at least one of the backups off site in a vault, local bank safe deposit box etc. in case of fire, flood or other such catastrophes.
I dare anyone to tell me that just because the paper print outs were shredded or misplaced or whatever that they cannot retrieve this information from backup tape.
Anyone involved that claims the information is lost is smack dab in the middle of a cover up. Anyone involved including the Able Danger folks should know this.

Well, that's the difference between the United States and China or the old Soviet Union. In those countries, the government would have tortured Shaffer to death in some back room the moment he opened his mouth. Our government is much more humane - they just make the documents disappear and leave Shaffer looking like an idiot. Achieves the same end with less of a mess. ;)

So, when does the "Smear Shaffer" campaign begin? C'mon, you all know the next step is to totally discredit the witness (whistle-blower). I bet that will be the breaking news when Bush gets back to D.C.

"The Able Danger whistleblower had said previously that a member of the team had delivered two briefcases full of documents to the 9/11 Commission - but Commission spokesman have said they have found nothing that mentioned Atta by name."
I guess this is about the same as "They said there would be a terrorist attack using airplanes on September 11th but they didn't say which airline... The 9/11 Commission has been illuminated as the fraud they have been all along.
