There are several climates in the country, (I can never remember the exact number), from Northern temperate coastal forests in SE, through sub alpine arboreal forests, to alpine, to tundra, to the marine island chains, and marine Alaska peninsula...
It's about a thousand miles from Anchorage to Dead Horse, it's a little less, (IIRC about 800-900) south to The Dixon entrance. Not to mention about 900 miles to the end of the Aleutians.
The size of the country is one thing outsiders have problems understanding.
One thing.
Here, near Sunshine in the North Susitna Valley, it's been monsoon raining cold rain. We had frost three days ago. We are heavy Into the August cycle. Cool days, wet cold rains at night.
Can't see the Talkeetnas or Denali right now, but I'm sure the termination dust is lowering the line.
Hey HO! Lets GO!
Saw a pick-em-up truck south bound on the Parks yesterday, had a big fine Caribou rack, in velvet, in the bed.
Soon it will be time to start getting in some stupid chickens and ruffled grouse. Soon.....
HEY HO! Lets GO!
Winter come soon.

(Gun control is repeatability of groups in the designated target area, or at least it ought to be)
