The picture of the White House could have only looked better had there been a stiff breeze to unfurl that grand old flag.
I get choked up inside when I see it fully extended waving in a breeze with a deep blue sky background. It is a flag for all peoples. It represents courage, bravery, strength, heartbreak in spilling of blood for freedoms sake. Your country and most of Europe held it dear, as they where freed from tyranny. Sadly so much has had to change. No one "owes" America anything for favors performed, other then to join with us for pursuing true freedom for all that seek it.
In this, your country are amoung those nations that have choosen to support freedom. Your soldiers that have died, and currently serve in Iraq, shall not be forgotten.
Protecting and dying to maintain the freedoms of ones own are patriotic. Protecting and dying for the freedoms of those that cannot do for themselves is both full of Honor, and of a Godly nature. Thanks from one American to the Italian people for not pulling out support of this effort to free a formally oppressed peoples. You show the world you stand on the side of what many consider a righteous cause.
You seem like a nice young lady.
Please remember that America runs from Barrow to Key West.
It's in the "tween places", the so called "fly over country" where most Americans live.
Some folks might even joke a little about judging the totality of Americans by sampling "just" New York City and Washington D.C..
But that could possibly be considered rude, (while everyone is deep into an honest "moment"), and therefore, that would be wrong. Very veeery veeeeery wrong.
grazie tante!!!!!!!!
I know I have to see America more. And that's exactly what I want to do.
Claudia,
Thanks so very much for being the reason for this wonderful thread.
As you can tell by the posts, we are all very proud of where we live. And so should you be. Italy is a wonderful, beautiful country. And, you're right, the food is fabulous there.
I live just a few miles from Mount Rushmore. If you ever come to America again, I would be honored to be your tour guide.
Great post. Thank you.
It's not a matter of "if" my FRiend, it's a matter of "when". I'll be back.
While in New York, I can only offer one piece of advice: Don't drink the water........
"Great post. Thank you."
Not to appear theatric, but as General George S. Patton Jr. said many years back. "I meant every word of it".
I'm just kidding with ya a tad.
No way do I see you having any trouble "gitting 'er done".
;^)
I could tell you meant "every word of it".
As the wife, mother, daughter, granddaughter, great-granddaughter, etc. etc. of military men.........I know it when I see it. Patriotism is not only my heritage, but my legacy.
A very moving article - Thank you.
Thank you for your kind words about my country. I am glad you came to visit and hope that you may visit again.

Dasani bottled water comes from the New York City Water supply. Gee, those Coca-Cola people have no idea what they're doing, do they?
