I have read that they are hurting. Very few people are going to the movies. I hope they realize they are committing suicide and start producing good movies again.
It undoubtedly sucks; however, the warning sign was there when the NYT "raved" about it.
Still one of the worst war movies I ever saw, from a technical standpoint, was the "Green Berets" with John Wayne who was good in so many other war movies.
Clearly not shot anywhere near Asia, the "VC" spoke obvious gibberish; when explosions occured, everyone in the mess hall stood up; the VC attacked ony in daytime; and John Wayne, portraying a full Colonel, directed the battle from a guard tower.
No matter, I thought the "message" was at least "pro American". In hind sight, I wonder. It was corney to the point of being campy - maybe the affect Hollywood was going for all along.
Yeah, that one was a real clunker....
but you know there'll be some moonbats who really think Colonels go around shooting Humvves, and we really do send one Humvee out on patrol.
F#$% useless hollywierd.
Did Bochco use hack writer Dan Brown as a script consultant?
You're right about "The Green Berets." Fort Benning was a poor stand-in for Southeast Asia. Too bad the movie strayed so far from the book.
About on the same level was "Apocalypse Now" with Martin Sheen as a less-than-military captain and Marlon Brando as a fat weird colonel. The only part of "Apocalypse Now" I can sit through is the aerial assault sequence with "Ride of the Valkyries."
Wayne's "Fighting Seabees" is a pretty awful movie.
