"Why do we hesitate to do so with these people when it was so clear what we had to do with the Nazi's?"
Because Islam is supposedly a 'religion'(Gag!). Only when western civilization gets over being so #$%^ PC and declares Islam to be an evil ideology instead of a bona-fide religion will we be able to fight them properly. It amazes me that so much of the world respects a 'culture' that abuses half of its population to such an extent.
I think that is the paradox. The Muslims have been able to convince the world that it's the Jews who are up to what the Muslims are REALLY up to. The Jews are suspect, the Jews get the blame, but the Muslims are the culprits. And I think this dynamic has been going on since Mohammed.

Put Liberal in the place of Muslim and Conservative in the place of Jews and you have a picture of modern American politics too.
The US should have stayed in Saudi Arabia, big time, instead of getting out.
Leave the military strategy to the Generals, you are no good at it. The only reason we were in Saudi was to "Contain" Iraq. With no need to contain Iraq, we have no reason to stay in Saudi. Staying in Saudi only would give wack jobs like Bin Lauden another propaganda lie to feed his next crop of suicide bombers.
Well- 'we' is certainly not me!
I think the 'we' is three groups.
One- cowards. People who just would rather believe, and do, ANYTHING other than face a threat, call it what it is, and do something about it. They shy away from anything that isn't nice and good-feeling; anything that challenges their fantasy that people are all the same- good and reasonable- and want the same thing. Example- The Green Ribbon Sheriff in Britain and the Islamapologists here.
Two- The truly deluded who think that this country- and our version of civilization- is too powerful, and needs to be 'balanced out' by making everyone 'equal', even if it means a certain amount of pain and destruction for Western cultures. This version believes all people MUST be the same- and those who have risen above others must be taken down several pegs and kept humble. There is a big element of self-hatred and guilt involved there. These are the secret socialists. Example- Jimmy Carter.
Three- The true bigots who hate Christianity and Judaism. They see Islam as what it is- a way to overcome the majority religions of the world, so they support it. They also hate the US military, the fact that we are the most powerful nation in the world. Most of the radical groups are in this category, which is why we never hear them outraged by the brutatlities of Islam against women, children and animals.
Examples- NOW- a group of women who hate feminitity yet hate men as well. NAMBLA- who certainly support the man/boy aspect of Islam, and PETA- which thinks animals are better off dead than kept as pets. They also think humanity is the ruination of the world and the more dead people, the healthier the planet. What problem would they have with more human deaths?
Somewhere in the mix are the truly good-hearted fools, who really believe in petting the rabid animal until it likes you. They analyze WHY the murderer wants to kill you as he ties you up. They naively try to apply the pacifist approach and reason with pure evil- which sees them, rightfully, as fools and kills them. Example- Daniel Pearl
The problem is the 'we' above IS among 'us'. We have no sense of unity as a country, as we did during WW2. We are softer, we are self-delusional, we are PC. This wouldn't even be an ISSUE in WW2- if NYC had been attacked by a Nazi group there wouldn't have been ONE person openly wearing a swastika walking the streets. No Nazi meetings or support groups collecting funds for the Nazi war effort. No debate over 'good Nazi/bad Nazi'-or their right to exist. What was unthinkable then is defended now.
Anytime a human being is REALLY EXPECTED to consider FAIRNESS to those threatening them before self-preservation we- as a culture- are in SERIOUS PERIL.
Pretty cute! Thanks.
You're certainly entitled to your opinion, as I am mine and I say that we should have stayed in Saudi Arabia and escalated from there. We would have needed a hardened presence, but I think Saudi Arabia would have been a better place to "draw flies" than Iraq.
Staying in Saudi only would give wack jobs like Bin Lauden another propaganda lie to feed his next crop of suicide bombers.
You mean not like he is now doing about Iraq? Please. Saudi Arabia is the real pivot ground in this whole mess, not Iraq. Bush let his family ties with the Saudi family cloud his strategic judgement.
The key here folks, is petrodollars. Sure as shootin', every mouth around us telling us to ignore the doom thes folks industriously promise us, is fuled by petrodollars, somewhere, somehow.
;^)...I know that.
"They shy away from anything that isn't nice and good-feeling; anything that challenges their fantasy that people are all the same- good and reasonable- and want the same thing."
I agree.
"There is a big element of self-hatred and guilt involved there. These are the secret socialists. Example- Jimmy Carter."
Agreed.
" This wouldn't even be an ISSUE in WW2-"
This America is not grandpa's America.
"Anytime a human being is REALLY EXPECTED to consider FAIRNESS to those threatening them before self-preservation we- as a culture- are in SERIOUS PERIL."
Again, we agree. Unfortunately the ruling class does not feel threatened from the outside, but from the inside. Until that flaw in our national character is corrected, we are at the mercy of all or enemies, foreign and domestic. In comparison to WWII, we are at about 1938 and hoping Hitler (the Muslims) won't be so bad.
