She's just a monster with a pretty face.
That's all.
If she wore her soul as skin, she'd look like The Creature From the Black Lagoon.

If she had been a man, she would have evoked different comments.
It's called life. Beautiful women get a break all the time.

This country is nuts! (The chick oughta be rewarded.)

One thing bothers me though, if the sexes were reversed do you think a man would have gotten off with only 9 months of jail time?It doesn't bother me much. Our culture basically has an ideal (though not reality) of protecting women's sexuality more than men's sexuality. That's fine by me, really.
But to answer your question, no a man would not have gotten off with only 9 months of jail time if he got sexual with a young teenage girl, or boy for that matter.

Every girl's phys-ed teacher I ever encountered was a bull dyke. Not that there's anything wrong with that.

As a man, I fully embrace this double standard.

But there can and IS psychological damage. Boys are more immature emotionally that females to start with.
Even more so because, well "Hey bucko! You got some!" So he's even more isolated that if it was female (who could scream rape and get all kinds of sympathy) What has happened is someone in a 'parental' or authority role violated a trust, and crossed a boundary that shouldn't have been crossed.
Every male I've ever dealt with that had something like this happen, wishes it hadn't.

"It may be the same crime on the books but in the perception of many, it is apples and oranges." Precisely why I posed the questions. Michael Jackson faced a minimum 24 years if convicted of the same crime this teacher will server only 9 months for. So you are correct sex and looks do make a difference when it comes to child molestation in America.

That's what those males tell you, a female.
Trust me, among other males, that kid is LOVING it.

...if the sexes were reversed do you think a man would have gotten off with only 9 months of jail time? Quite possibly - unfortunately. In an incident in my town involving a teacher and a 15 year old girl, he got no jail time at all - just 10 years probation (deferred adjudication) If he does not violate probation, not only will he have no jail time, his record will be cleared. Men teachers get away with it, too.
Of course, comparing these two cases is anecdotal. After all, Mary Kaye Letourneau did hard time. I would be interested to see a comparison of average terms for similar crimes, though.

A double standard is not necessarily unfair. Actually, this isn't a genuine double standard (two standards for the same thing), but rather two different standards for two different things.
