Where's the husband in all this? I read her husband had said the son had reinlisted and wanted to make a career of the Army and he was proud to serve his country. These statements by the mom are completely disgusting. She sounds like Nick Berg's dad when he was beheaded. This certainly doesn't sound like what her son believed. Just wondering how the dad feels about her comments. Thoughts?

I'm sorry her son was killed. He was a hero doing exactly what he volunteered to do.
This mother and others like her need to take a reality check. The job of the military is to go to war when called by the president to do so.
She does not get to make this decision. No Mother has ever been in a position to make this decision.
Her son volunteered to become a part of our military. He spent years being trained with weapons and other tactical equipment preparing for the day when he would be called upon to fight for our country.
This was his choice, a choice that he made every day he put on his uniform.
Now the left wing socialists have her hooked into their game and I will have to admit, she is a great example of a useful Idiot.

Why the press would show no decorum when dealing with people in these situations is beyond me.

My deepest sympathy for your loss. What I mean is that it is common today for mothers and some fathers as well ( however maternal instinct makes this much more prevalent with mothers) to be more invested in their children than their spouses. This is even admirable in many circles however it sets the parent up for terrible emotional difficulties as the child grows and especially if the child should preceed the parent in death.

I'm with you on this. She needs help at this point because she is teetering on the edge of sanity. President Bush is not the root of her problem, and on some level she knows that. He is a convenient single object she can flail at SAFELY. Same is true with her anger with the country. We need to honor her son, who undoubtedly loved her, by laying off. (Even if she has been a leftist for a long time.)

We should reserve our derision for the media and the left who are basking in the glow of her breakdown. They are egging her on, stirring her anger to further their own ends. They want her to go crazy to prove just what an "evil man" Bush is. They want to be able to say, "See, see what you did to this poor woman. " What an evil thing to do.

The President has been exceptionally careful not to politicize the families of fallen soldiers. He has done a terrific job despite intense political pressure to use them as props. In this case, he is the model of decency and compassion in this regard. Good for him.

I think most real people see the difference between the two approaches without any help from us.
