Nothing is free....try donating a few bucks....before you get the ZOT!
No, you almost reached your 4th anniversary - alas, it isn't going to happen as you have now gotten the ZOT.
Your advice comes too late.
>>Four. But who's counting... <<
Four years, and still BurFring all over the place.
I'll agree with this point. Obviously there should be some limits so that this place doesn't turn into Moonbat Central, but I think FR could really help advance the conservative agenda by providing some opportunities to go at it with liberals here.
Apparently what he has set up works pretty good and attracts a lot of conservatives and develops a lot of activism. I have been a part of a lot of that in my time on the forum. (DC events, Jarbidge, NV, Klamath, OR, Dallas, TX, Austin, TX, Boise, ID, WTC Flag Raising Petition, 50 Million Round March, etc., etc.)
If you want a site that does otherwise, then either talk to Jim and convince him to do so (aint going to happen) or create your own.
Either way, my advise is to enjoy and use what there is here that you can agree with and that does not disgust you.
See my post 486.
Start your own board and stop whining on this one.
How do you know Judge Roberts wants to shut down this site? Can you give proof of that?
Post A correction.
Oh, gotcha, I think....
IMHO, a foolish view. If Jim were to let this site fall into a juvenile flame fest, why would anyone bother to come log on and read? I certainly wouldn't. As it is, I'm amazed at the number of freepers who can't resist the most immature of personal attacks and inuendo. I can only imagine what it would be like without Jim and the mods.
The only discourses that are worthwhile are those where you have a little common ground. As long as I believe that I'm arguing with someone who in the end wants the same things I want, I'll keep posting in a thread. Sometimes the goals are the same, but the means are different. However, as soon as I realize I'm beating a dead horse, I stop.
When the DUs come on this site they are not the least bit interested in honest intellectual debate. They simply desire to disrupt the site and make it ineffective. That is why they will rapidly degenerate into name calling, insults, etc.
However, we do have liberals that visit the site and will argue their positions in polite debate and according to the rules as laid down by Jim Rob, which are pretty simple, no profanity, no personal and or racial slurs. These liberals are NOT ZOTTED and their arguments are shot down pretty quickly with honest debate.
This is not %100 correct. I can't find the thread, but I know one poster that was apparently deleted for the crime of not being sufficiently hostile to the ACLU. Nothing in his posts were insulting or irrational. (He didn't have a lot of them so it wasn't hard to check.) Yet there was the usual pack of jackals screaming 'troll'. I'm guessing that (1) there is more than one person with the ability to delete posters and (2) one of them is not very responsible, abusing that power where some issues (ACLU for example) are discussed. Or, possibly, there is at least one user that the single moderator trusts to point out 'trolls', etc., who abuses that trust.
