>With US, China is running a trade deficit of about $100 billion a year. A similar trade deficit exists with the EU. The Chinese do not feel obliged to balance the trade

Chinese threats to the USA, brought to us COURTESY OF THE DEMOCRATS!!!

Fact is the CLINTON administration SOLD THE US DOWN THE TUBES with China.

Clinton (with dem party support) PERSONALLY HELPED China to leapfrog 20 +/- years of military technology development by FALSIFYING Certification for China to receive SENSITIVE US MILITARY TECHNOLOGY!

http://www.nodnc.com/modules.php?name=Content&pa=list_pages_categories&cid=19

Clinton Gave Chinese FALSE certification to U.S. Military Tech (Democrats enabling China to engage in WAR with U.S.A.)
China Rumbles about War with US - Clinton certified them for US Military Tech
Clinton Gave China Chips for Nuclear War (Hardened Computer Chips for surviving nuclear blasts)
Clinton Fuelled Beijing's militarism (Clinton Administration helped promote Asian destabilization)
Chinese Military Buildup in preparation for WAR WITH USA (Democrat Party and Clinton AIDED CHINESE in preparation for WAR WITH USA - TREASON)
Chinese Military Buildup ENABLED BY CLINTON AND DEMOCRATS (Chinese are preparing for Asian Assault against Taiwan - looking to pull USA into fight)
The Increasingly Intertwined Bear and Dragon (Russia providing Military Technology and Arms to China)
China Updating and Modernizing ALL Military Capabilities (Working with Russia to gain additional Military Technology for eventual U.S. confrontation)
Chinese Advanced Fighter Provided by Russians (Not as Advanced as U.S. Military but still a real threat)
Russia and China JOIN FORCES AGAINST U.S. Defensive Space Weapons (Two Communist Nations in FULL Cooperation AGAINST the USA)
Top Chinese general warns US over attack (Will use NUKES on U.S. if it intervenes over Taiwan)

Bump. Very interesting material on the economics of Chinese/Indian/American trade and the military underpinnings.

Thanks for the ping EB. It did not take a rocket scientist to see what the Chinese were doing with the trade imbalance for the last ten years...building a modern military machine. It is no new revelation...it is something that was directly helped along by the previous administration and relatively ignored by this one until the last 1-2 years. Thank goodness they have opened their eyes to it now, because it is obvious at this point.

Just the amount of shipbuilding, military (naval) shipbuilding, boggles the mind and cannot be hidden at this point. There is simply SO much of it. Has to be akin to what our p[arents and grandparents saw going on in Nazi Germany and IMperial Japan in the 1930's. The PLAN GROWTH link at the following site makes it clear.

Please feel free to use that site and spread it around as an indication of the seriousness of the meatter. I have written my Senators and my Congressional Rep concerning it and they have all responded and thanked me for compiling it. I intend to keep it up to date.

It has become abundantly clear that the furture "huge" market that the politicians and corporate executives hoped to tap into by using the "cheap labor" for immediate gains is an illusion as far as the Chinese Communist leadership is concerned, and always has been. It was and is used as a lure to pull us in...to build up their base and get our wealth...and, sadly, it has worked all too well.

Simply put, the CCP means to disable, maim, and bury the United States and any competition to them (military, political, or economic) that we influence in that region...and potentially our very existance as a nation and a people.

...and they are very clear about it...not hiding it at all.

IMHO, if we do not respond forcefully and absoultely clearly now, ala a Reagan-style buildup and confrontation, then we may in fact find ourselves living out something akin to the horrific events set forth in the fictional tale:

Jeff, it's been plain for a long long time, the birth
policies China instituted were an integral part of the
planning, what better base to build a military hegemony
on than a male heavy population.
In the event of a chinese hegemonist move look for females
to be raped in large numbers, then be sent back as "guest
workers" or "brides".

It would be interesting to see the trade deficit figures before and after China was made a permanent favorite trading partner in 2000 [Clinton and Bush were joined at the hip].

Exporting both factories and the dollars to buy America is lose-lose for America's future [not too bad for companies that no longer consider themselves as American].

I don't think anyone in the leadership will give this any notice at all. Bush is more concerned with the War on Terror and his globalist, open border, economic utopia of super-wealthy multi-national corporations, served by an unending supply of wages slaves.

And Hillary will sell us out to the Chinese without so much as a second thought just like her husband did for eight years.

The wheel of history turns. And for the last 500 years, it's been turning inexorably westward from the emerging European powers of the middle ages to the current superpower status of the U.S. There's no reason to believe that trend is going to stop here and now.

The Bush administration is turning increasing focus and concern to the Red Chinese. I believe they have awakened to the threat and are forumalting a strategy to address and respond to it. I hope it is not too late to avoid a serious confrontation...because I think within the next five years there is one waiting to happen that could escalate into a large war.

Hope I am wrong...and at the leat, it can be avoided or mitigated. We shall see.

The neoconcoms have brainwashed Bush to believe suicide by car bomb is the way to take over the world and must be stopped at all costs.

If those large armies ever form and their power projectiuon capability reaches a point where they are cut loose, what you describe (and worse, IMHO) is undoubtedly going to happen all over that part of the world and possible elsewhere.

Good points all. Back when China was being considered for WTO membership, I wrote Graham, Hutchinson and Armey (Texas) to vote against it, predicted a war with China in 10 years, and oh by the way, my granson is not gonna go when you guys wave the flag and tell him to defend Corporate America.

Graham patted me on the head (email-wise) about the benefits of Free Trade, Hutchinson didn't even bother to answer. Armey sent me a two-pager, detailing his rationalization on why he would vote China in. Still didn't agree with him but gave him points for not sending a form letter.

As others pointed out, a blind man could see the peril of industrializing China, but then the politicians and their corporate masters were blinded by that chimera, "billions of customers".
