The cats don't try nipping the wires, but one does like to strop them. He sometimes unplugs the speakers and my camera's USB cable, since the computer itself sits under the desk, and those cables plug into the front.
We used to raise Shelties, and several had a rather depraved taste FOR Bitter Apple. Loved the stuff; we didn't dare put it on anything we wanted left alone. The Tabasco & other inexpensive pepper products did work well.
Of course, one of those also learned how to unlatch a certain door, and steal stored, fresh quinces & potatoes. It set our teeth on edge to watch her actually enjoy crunching a raw, fresh quince or spud. The entertainment value more than made up for the occasional loss.
They also learned how to harvest their own blackberries without getting stickered; and their funnest game was bringing us windfall apples to play ball. After 3 or 4 retrieves, one would lay down and eat the 'ball', then they would find and bring another one to start over again. Once they all got their fill of apples, they were happy leave the orchard.
I always laugh my a55 off when I think of Pres. Bush coming down here in August to introduce the pansy, pasty, Presidential press corps to a few thousand of his mosquito friends in 105 degree, 90 percent humidity Texas. And no fresh tofu for miles!!!
Yeah, I hear that when I go on R&R and I groan and say "I don't care what time it is in Baghdad...I'm on vacation!"
