Al-Qaida has obtained at least 40 nuclear weapons from the former Soviet Union – including suitcase nukes, nuclear mines, artillery shells and even some missile warheads.

This is why WND is utter crap. No source for that statement, no recognition that nobody else has reported that statement, just this.

A bald statement of fact.

Al-Qaida has 40 nukes.

Why should I believe them?

The plans for the devastating nuclear attack on the U.S. have been under development for more than a decade. It is designed as a final deadly blow of defeat to the U.S., which is seen by al-Qaida and its allies as "the Great Satan."

If this plan is ever carried out, Islam as a religion will cease to exist within 48 hours.

Before 9/11, I bet a lot of people would have said the same thing about an attack like that.

At least half the nuclear weapons in the al-Qaida arsenal were obtained for cash from the Chechen terrorist allies.

You are right. Pure Bravo Sierra. If the Chechens had them they would have used one against Moscow. World Net has some good articles but mixed in with them are articles that are just blatantly wrong. Pure Bravo Sierra.

From what I read, so called suit case nukes are extremely difficult to maintain and are useless unless professionally maintained. The number 40 is totally absurd. If by some evil way, Al Queada could lay their hands on one, they would use it asap. WND is just off the deep in on this matter.....

No, rather, why should I believe YOU? Where is your proof that this statement is crap? Did you retrieve it from your own crap as you sat on your donut throne?

If we wait 48 hours, China will be in the mix, as will North Korea. Retaliation needs to be swift.

I guess.

Farah is a lunatic. WND is wacko, and it sure isn't journalism.

I was the editor of my college newspaper back in the 1970s and I had higher standards than this.

Seriously, the biggest danger they pose, in terms of nuclear attacks, would be either a dirty bomb or a radiological device, though to create a radiological device would take a very high level of sophistication.

We will probably see a dirty bomb go off in the next few years, though I doubt we'll see a nuclear attack, simply because doing that would be a self-defeating prospect.

You people are quick to condemn others, saying they have no proof, and yet in your exuberants to give your OPINION, you sight NO EVIDENCE TO BACK UP YOUR OPINIONS. It's like the pot calling the kettle black. If you don't like statements without facts behind them, then don't do it yourselves.

It is better to keep one's mouth shut, and be thought a fool, than to open it, and remove all doubt.

"It is as if Bin Laden started by scheduling 'American Hiroshima' for 8-6-2005 and then worked backwards to arrive at 9-11-2001 as the precursor," he speculates.

I've heard of reaching, but this is just stupid. someone filled with hate as much as osama does not care about when he strikes. There is every evidence september 11th wasn't even the planned date, and that it was moved up because the "20th hijacker" Moussaoui, was feared to be spilling his guts in a Minnesota Jail.

"From what I read, so called suit case nukes are extremely difficult to maintain and are useless unless professionally maintained."

From what I read in the article, the nukes are currently being maintained by Soviet-era experts.

Whether or not the article has any merit is another story, but why are you so obtuse and deny what the article said?

I, btw, believe this is a lot of hogwash. But who knows?

A fellow employee who moved from Ukraine said that the Chechans did in fact have nuclear bombs, but were afraid of using them, knowing that the Russians would have no qualms about obliterating that nation in a second if a nuclear device was detonated by Chechen rebels in Russia. So I have a source. WHERE'S YOURS?

You can't prove a negative hypothesis. The burden of proof is on the person making the claim.
