In this case they were both at fault. Parents already lawyered up. Parents had personal responsiblity to their kid and the friends. Tragic accident, I just think some people want to blame the cops for everything - if someone else is to blame then it's easier to live with your guilt ????

A person who leaves an abandoned car or freezer in his yard must keep it secured and away from children. If it's true that the parents knew the kids liked playing in the car and they allowed it to continue, the parents were negligent. How many parents would allow their young children to play in an abandoned freezer, whether they were watching them or not?If the car was owned by anyone other than a family member, that person would most likely have been arrested.

grandma car... grandma's fault for not making sure vehicle was locked. If vehicle was unlocked as some reports indicate and they got in from the back seat or opened truck with truck latch inside car.. climbed in and couldn't get out. Grandmother will have to bear this responsibility.

unbelievable you say.

try minneapolis in 1996

a woman gone missing on c-mas eve and husband suspecyed in high profile rich people case

her car was soon found on main drag, lake street, in kmart parking lot.

police searched the car and impounded it.

days later on a routine imvemtory of the car--there she was -- in the trunk.

they searched the glove box for a body but not the trunk.

This is not the cops' fault--it's the stupid family's fault. They didn't teach their children NOT to go into a car, period, without them. Then they didn't lock the car. Then they didn't LOOK IN THEIR OWN TRUNK.

I hope the policemen/women involved don't lose their job, pay or sleep over this.
