""Oh, the view is priceless," Noguchi said as he hitched a ride to Discovery's cargo bay on the outpost's robotic arm. "I can see the moon.""
Does anybody else see why this is the dumbest quote in the history of space flight?

He was traveling at 17,500 mph, on the end of the Station Arm, holding a 600 pound gyroscope, waiting for the arm to move, and he had a chance to look around. What would you say? Noguchi is probably the funniest guy on the crew. No, I don't think it was dumb at all.

It's the absolute MOST expensive view. Like, whatever it costs for the space program since it's inception till ......... which translates into countless billions. Sorry but it's not priceless, it's pricey.

"What do you mean we don't have a spanner wrench?!""*&%-it, Just pass me the ball-peen hammer...I'll fix you"
To: Betaille
Noguchi is probably from Tokyo where the sky is so polluted , and stars are obscured by light and smog . It's probably been many years since he actually SAW the moon , hence his statement . Hehehe (sarcasm off ) ...

The moon is nearly full. If he is in the shade, the view would be very impressive. Almost like you could reach out and touch it. If he is there for the view, it could be done more cheaply in a slideshow back at NASA headquarters.

(Withdraw from the 1967 UN Outer Space Treaty and open the Land Office)
"Ooops!" CRUNCH!!
And suddenly there's a helmet-sized dent in the silica tiles on the shuttle's belly, dooming the craft and whoever is on it during re-entry.
This strikes me as a highly stupid decision.

Or maybe "priceless" because of the current phase of the moon.

Does anybody else see why this is the dumbest quote in the history of space flight? I don't think it is a "dumb" quote. In fact, moon-viewing in Japan (
, tsukimi) is a bit of a cultural icon.
You even find like references in places that are a bit out of the way, such as advertising for this ramen restaurant, tsukimiken:

To: mvpel
Of course, a new moon would be illuminated by "earthshine." Can't see a new moon on earth, so perhaps the view from space is priceless.
