Keeping in mind what Mo said about OSUT, which is a sort of BCT/AIT combination for certain fields under certain circumstances (I know not what).
Good luck to ya. What Officer Branch are you shooting for?

Very well said, R. Scott. That is the best post I've read all day.
"You implied that the current military is not the equal of previous due to the PC training they get."
"implied?" where?
Post the quote where I "implied" such.
Thanks. Hopefully, I'll get Armor. I like things that cause things to go BOOM. (Any luck and I get in a tank platoon.)
You obviously don't read much military history. In the early years of the war, the Wehrmacht overran most of continental Europe. They "beat the asses" of not only the French, but the Brits (does the name "Dunkirk" ring a bell?), the Poles, the Belgians, the the Dutch, the Norwegians, the Greeks and the Danes. It was only after their nutsy-Nazi leader decided to attack the Soviet Union that the Wehrmacht began to face unsustainable casualties (although they came within a hair's breadth of seizing Moscow, and forcing Russia out of the war). My dad fought the Wehrmacht in both North Africa (including the Kasserine Pass debacle) and Italy, and he had profound respect (and a healthy fear of) the Wehrmacht. I'm sorry if your only knowledge of the Wehrmacht comes from watching "Saving Private Ryan" too many times.

"How old is your Marine son?"
He's just turned 21. We have children
that range in age from 42 to 19. Two
are adopted.
That is what you wrote. That implies that combat deaths should be higher because current recruits are not trained to the same standards as previous recruits (what the article is all about).
I purport that combat deaths are at an all-time low.
