"Basayev was designated a terrorist threat to U.S. security in August 2003, McCormack said in Washington. But he said that the U.S. government had "no authority to prevent ABC News from exercising its constitutional right to broadcast the interview."

Sigh -- I always search -- I searched on "Russia" and only another earlier article came up, which talked about the ABC interview, but not Russia's reaction to it.

Oh, well.

The topic is the same, but at least the article isn't a duplicate.

Okay, they can broadcast. But how about that little Constitutional provision whereby "adhering to" the "enemies" of "these United States," "giving them aid and comfort" constitutes treason, which incidentally is a capital crime.

Yep....every time the media traitors interview Jane Fonda...I have to remind myself that "Free speech" has a high price. And remember, our own media interviewd Bin Laden.

ABC, CNN, CBS, NBC, et.al. disregarding tact, the facts, and ethics for their "agenda" for two decades.

Russia should indict the network officials for aiding and abetting their enemy.

Giving aid and comfort to the enemy during time of war is NOT part of free speech.

The Russians are so right. ABC is sinking to a new low for the lamestream media.

BTW, is Shamil Basayev a Muslim?

I am pretty sure Basayev is a Muslim, I think most Chechens are. No civilized people would hold hostage and massacre children.

"How would we feel if Russian TV aired an interview with Bin Laden?"
And how would we feel about having a Glavlit [the name of censorship directorate under USSR of thucking memory]? I'd say that the commies and the moslems are worth one another, and none of them is worth a sh*t. Thus we are better off without either of them - pox on all their houses!

I don't disagree...but that's a hazy line. Free Speech/Acts of Sedition and Treason warranting punishment.

As just an example, Jane Fonda's is surely a mental case, she feels that her "feelings" are facts...and by all accounts is an idiot but is she a seditious, blackhearted, traitor worthy of a traitors punishment? Or is she just worthy of a pie in the face and publicly voiced opposing views humiliating her with the turth...that's a hard call.

The very fact that the alphabet media still pushes their screed...is a testament to how difficult it is to prove that the "media" is giving "aid and comfort" to America's enemies...as opposed to just being idiots...themselves.

And let's face it...Jurno Majors were the biggest morons on campus in college.

Stupidity or Treason? Probably a bit of both, but not a whole, whole, lot of the later. IMHO.
